I see 2 things right away:

Make sure the 840 EVO has the EXT0DB6Q firmware

Replace the GTX 580.

The rest of the computer should still be fine.

(also, I hope no one asks about your memory speed of 667. It's DDR3-1333, everyone!)

It's a computer!

Pretty much this ^

Maybe upgrade that ram to faster sticks. Maybe larger ssds if you need more space.

Nice psu you have there. I have a few of the 1200w models from that series and they are built like a tank. :D

Thanks for the quick reply.

From what i can see i can only go up to a GT730 or Radeon 6970 on this Motherboard? I've been partial to Nvida.... but open to suggestions.

Looks like i need to update the BIOS....Magician doesn't support the drive when i run it. I'm assuming the BIOS is too old.

Where are you seeing that you're limited to a GT 730 or an HD 6970? You should only be limited by your budget.

Your BIOS can't be the problem. I have a much older motherboard than yours yet my 840 EVO has always worked with Magician.

Yeah, quite wrong. ;) You can get any card you want. You're only limited by money.

I don't know the last 2 generations of cards very well, but I think the GTX 1070 would be the best choice because it'll leave a large amount of spending money while still giving you a fantastic upgrade.
