Soft Tubing Choices?

Thread Starter
I'm looking at rebuilding my loop and with that I will need new tubing. I'm interested in what viable choices there are for soft tubing.

I'm currently running PrimoFlex Advanced LRT. I haven't been too satisfied with this tubing for two reasons. The first reason is that it was extraordinarily difficult to get onto my fittings. I even connected the tubing onto the fittings then screwed the fittings in out of fear of breaking components from the forces required. The second reason is that after only 8 months of usage the tubing has become cloudy and there seems to be a deposit of plasticizer in my GPU block. The water itself is not cloudy as my reservoir is clear.

I'm currently considering the Mayhems tubing over on Performance PCs. Is there any other soft tubing to consider? Did I just get a bad batch of PrimoFlex?

Hi there

I've currently using EK DuraClear on one part of loop and definitely this part of loop tubing started yellowing after 5 months of use and on second part of loop I'm using Mayhem Ultra Clear which is still nice and no yellowing on this part of loop

After that, I will be going with Mayhem UV White on my loop

Regarding the PrimoChill LRT tubing, friend used that tubing on his loop, he have always problem with leaching and due this I wouldn't consider to use PrimoChill on my part of the loop

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

Thank you for your help! Based off of this and what I read online I ordered some Mayhem Ultra Clear for the rebuild. It'll be nice going back to clear tubing again. biggrin.gif

Hi there

Please have look on this test and review, its comparison between the Mayhem Ultra Clear and LRT

http://www.xtremerigs.net/2016/02/05/extreme-rigs-soft-tubing-test/3/

Mayhem do have coloured tubing, check their UV White, they are been making in other colors but stopped which is shame there

https://mayhems.co.uk/tubing/

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

I've been using PrimoFlex Advanced LRT clear for ~3 years, and it's a mixed bag.

It gets cloudy in a few months. I changed it couple times and every time 2-3 months later it just does not look nearly as good as new. The waterblocks and the reservoir look clean though, so there does not seem to be excessive plasticiser leaching.

The build I had in the past was low on radiator space and so coolant temperature was high. The tubing was turning very yellow very quick in that build. That's on top of it getting cloudy. Now with my new build the radiator space is vastly increased, and so coolant temperature is way down, and the yellowing has gone away, but the clouding is still there.

I'm running Mayhem's X1 clear in my loop.

I've almost ran out of PrimoFlex tubing, so may try something else next time it is time to replace it.

That being said, I never had difficulties getting PrimoFlex over my fittings.
