Planning first custom loop, not sure where to begin

Hey guys, I've been desiring a custom loop for a while but I have been trying to read up on how to go about it.

Right now I have an H105 in the front of my Fractal R5,with Corsair 120 sp pushing and 2x 38mm Deltas pulling through. In addition I have my 1070 equipped with a G10 bracket and H55 with a Delta pushing as the exhaust for the case.

So im basically an AIO CLC plebian. I've been looking at the Swiftech H220 and H240x2 which would be relatively easy to setup and maintain. I'd like to keep my top panels on the R5 if possible to suppress noise, but I don't believe the tubing will allow for a front mount.

I've also been checking out XSPC, Alphacool, and EK kits. The install seems fairly straight forward and I'm open to assembling a kit, preferably a 240 or 280mm rad as intake. I'm planning to just have the loop on the CPU for now, and then expand and add a GPU block down the line as the 1070 setup is functioning great right now.

I'd ideally like to keep the budget to $200 to $250, so I'm looking for the best price to performance ratio. My H105 will go to a friend who I gave my old Corsair 500R case, so I have an opportunity to start a custom loop.

Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! smile.gif

First, estimate how many watts of heat you have to remove. Then buy what will remove that amount of heat.

It doesn't matter if it looks nice or is easy to install and maintain if it won't cool your components.
