ASRock Z270 Gaming I7 vs. ASRock Z270 Taichi vs. MSI Z270 Gaming M7

I'm currently in the process of building a new computer centered around the new Kaby Lake processor and have narrowed down the motherboard choices to the following three:

ASRock Z270 Gaming I7

ASRock Z270 Taichi

MSI Gaming M7

In case anyone's curious, the rest of components I've selected thus far for this build are as follows:

Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz

Noctua NH-D15S 140mm SSO2 D-Type Premium CPU Cooler

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition

CORSAIR RMi Series RM750i 750W

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400

SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 500GB

I'm mainly looking to see if anyone has any bad experience with any of the three listed above or if another motherboard is recommended altogether. I have heard good things about both MSI and ASRock, though I have not personally used either in any of my previous builds.

Is it worth upgrading from Ivy Bridge to Kaby Lake in the first place? Or am I better off waiting for Coffee Lake or even later on down the road?

If this build is for gaming then yes moving from a 3770k to 7700k would not be a good or very noticeable upgrade imo. That gtx 770 is easily the weakest part of your rig gaming wise.

I'd upgrade to a Ryzen 5 1600, honestly. The only exception is if every game you play can only use 4 cores.

All those boards are overpriced for what is a dead socket on LGA1151. You also don't need a Noctua NH-D15S to cool a i7-7700k that only overclocks ~10% over stock turbo (4.5GHz to 5GHz).

I'm being convinced that I shouldn't go through with this build now. How do you foresee the future generations of Intel's CPUs shaping up in comparison to Kaby Lake?

Well next in line to be released is coffeelake from what i've seen. It's using 14nm still so it's probably just a tweaked kabylake just like kaby was to skylake. After that they are moving to 10nm cannonlake and that's suppose to be a new uarch so no really knows, but intel right now.
