Hi Fellas

I need some help in buying a router which would cover the range of 2 houses. The total square meters of both house is 300 square meters. Is there a router which can accomodate that range?

I use a Netgear R7000 (running DD-WRT) which covers my whole house (2-story semi-detached, maybe 100 sq m) with the router in the understairs cupboard around the middle depth wise and to the non-adjoining side.

Unfortunately, trial and error is going to be your best way since house construction has a large impact on the penetration of signals and router antenna, device antenna and you wireless band of choice (N, AC etc) all affect signal quality. However you can have multiple access points using the same SSID and password so you can wire in multiple wireless access points (wired ethernet if you can or powerline adapters if you can't or don't want to) then you can optimise your coverage. I did this in my mums house which is probably not too dissimilar in size to yours with thick stone walls. We needed about 2x extra access points to get full coverage. I used the Delovo DLAN adapters (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/PowerLAN-Adapters/Devolo-Powerline-Signal-Booster-Range-Extender-Power/B00C580FZA) since this was a powerline adapter and wifi access point in one.

Your wifi device (phone / laptop etc) will connect to the access point with strongest signal however I've found they can be reluctant to change to a the better source when you move from room to room, presumably so it's not always switching. It would probably change after a few minutes but you can also just toggle your wifi and it'll then pick up the strongest source.

Thanks for the info. One question I'm thinking of getting 2 routers for both houses and the lan cable might be going outdoor. Is it harmful if it rains or any weather conditions?

I will share a personal experience with you. I had a cable router outside and the lightning struck not so far from it. It was underground inside of a metallic pipe so the electricity probably went right on it. The electric field induced a current inside the ethernet cable that was strong enough to kill the router's port (thankfully the unit is still working). The port was connected to a switch to link the guest house.
Ethernet cable are most of the time not very sturdy. The plastic will degrade because of the sun's radiation and weather. It is perfectly fine to put a cable outside but you have to take some precaution. If the line is on the ground, protect it from lightning!

Dude... this thing is 150$! For just a bit more you can grab a Netgear N7000 and its coverage is crazy. I got a 2 story house and I get signal 95%+ everywhere. I have signal 100m away when I am on the street and there is a lot of other routers around (interference).

Just to add a bit more on how this router is awesome. It is on the second floor by a wall (not good). I have strong signal on my backyard. It literally goes trough the whole house.

That's what I'm thinking that's why I'm asking here if there are any alternative or a big router can do it. I'm actually considering Mesh Routers but the problem is it is not available here in my country so the expense plus the time it takes here is not reasonable.

How many stories? Concrete floor/walls are awful for signal transmission. There are wifi switch hub too. Last time I checked on ebay it wasn't so expensive.

My parents have a large house and my dad bought this router. I set it up for him and signal is flawless.

Linksys EA9500
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAD6H5EF5912

He picked it up for 300usd I believe from amazon or something cheaper than newegg.

Edit:
maybe he bought the AC5400.

I will contact him.

Edit2:
Oh AC5400 is the ea9500.
http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-EA9500/

So yea he got the ea9500 for 300 something.

If you want something better get a couple of small ubiquiti edgerouter x's and a couple of access points. Runs Poe and got great coverage. Pretty simple to setup.
