Can someone give me any suggestions why my GPU is throttling?

I don't know why my GPU is throttling now. I haven't done much. It does it in all my games. The throttle happens when the game renders everything i'm about to see . U know how like you close a door and some advanced games minimize rendering behind those close doors, then you open the door and it renders everything in the room.

Ok I lied, I've been trying to fix this problem so I did a lot of things to my PC before I started noticing this. i was literally trying to fix my instability issue, but I'm starting to narrow it down to gpu, psu, or mobo. Could an underperforming ssd cause this? My ssd right now is only writing at half speed. I'm about to try and hopefully fix that by doing a "secure erase" and then reinstalling the OS on it.

P.S. My gfx card is a Sapphire Nitro R9 390 and it's at constant 70 degrees under load.

Have you ensured you have the latest mobo bios, gpu bios, ssd firmware, and amd drivers?

I don't have the retail box of my gpu. How can i tell if its teh 1040/1500 one or the 1010/1500 one?

Why would i need this if I didn't have any problems with the gpu before? ppl are saying to not flash any bios unless you know for a fact there is a hardware problem with that pc component.

Is that a game ? Because that can easily be a problem with of the game and not the hardware. Try with Unigine Engine Valley Extreme HD and submit a new MSI AF report, this benchmark only stress GPU, the CPU usage is minimum.
Also upload info about your setup thumb.gif

Yes the graph shows heavy load with a game. But it happens with all my games when rendering is involved. Happens very frequently. Should I still do the benchmark?

Yes ! this benchmark is almost a "isolate" test, because stress mostly the GPU. If the benchmark show a stable performance after the gpu reach his maximum temperature, the gpu isn't the problem. Check the GPU temps because is really heavy ! thumb.gif

Take a look at the graph below. The opposite just happened. LOL what the hell is going on? That to me indicates something is unstable. Maybe the power being supplied from the wall outlet? Or maybe the gpu memory is slowly dying? idk

Is that Unigine Valley ?

I'm not a AMD GPU user since last year, but i heard problems with the new Wattman and some GPUs, so you can try a clean driver reinstall with DDU

Sorry, I'll do the test right now.
