[Verizon] Fios launches $70 Gigabit service. - Page 2

Wish I could get this. I'm with charter. or spectrum or w/e they call themselves. $65 for 60/5. Not complaining, but damn I wish I could get this.

edit.

So they cant give me fios, but they want to sell me a drone, and a whole bunch of home automation stuff. biggrin.gif

Just found that funny.

Same here 60 down with charter and no other options. I would pay more if they would offer higher speeds but all they want to do is sell me tv channels mad.gif

sounds good, too bad its not within my area, or rather my country...

though on that note, whats the data cap?
also data restrictions, e.g. torrents, VPNs, data server-type workloads aren't allowed? etc.

No data caps on this service. As far as I know, no restrictions on torrents, though not allowed to run a home server. If they notice the traffic, they'll "politely" ask you to move to a business plan. Also, verizon is know for traffic shaping and throttling VOD (netflix, youtube, etc.) services.

We have or had TWC now it's part of Spectrum... no other choices (Buffalo I believe has some fios but down here? no...) Oh I live in Western New York kind of in between Buffalo and Erie PA for reference.

60/5 for $65 doesn't sound bad to me.... I mean you can maybe get 50/5 for that price for 12 months if you're a new customer here. 15 down and I think it's 2 up is $70 a month in this part of Western New York.... Of course you don't find those prices advertised just the "for 12 months.." prices. The normal price of just jumping up to 30 down here... aka not the promotional 12 month... would be almost as much as my entire FIOS package including tv (every channel) and phone cost me in Oregon before Verizon sold that market.

Down here the only "service" Verizon even offers is like a cell phone store....

i figured, one of the ISPs here on my country does that traffic shaping for VOD service.
i mean, they offer subscription service for movies and all, so they'd obviously throttle those who aren't on their subscription. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

on a side note, they were formerly a TV-cable company that got screwed over by netflix and the likes.
