Realtek Audio not Playing Bass/Mid Outputs

I've taken a look at this thread already but it didn't work for me.

I have an asus z170-a motherboard and I'm running windows 10. I tried updating my Realtek drivers, but it ended up making it worse. Before I installed the driver, I could at least see 5.1 as an option in the drop-down menu but now I can only see stereo and quadraphonic. I found a setting in the Realtek settings - the little gear at the top right - that says "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously (which unchecked the setting "Mute the rear output device, when a front headphone plugged in"). So I thought this would surely work, but since I can't see 5.1 in the drop-down menu, I can't test it anymore. I've tried unplugging and plugging the base output to see if Realtek will read it, but nope.

I know I could probably fix this by buying an audio splitter, but there has to be a way for this to work right? Realtek can't be this much of a joke right?

If worse comes to worse and I buy an splitter cable, how do I limit frequencies to the bass? Preferably in steps please because I'm an idiot.

hello, i have the same problem with the z170-a mb, but i am using 2.1 audio, window 10 new update made it worse, but so far i found that unplugging the speakers from the motherboard and plugging it back in, pops up the realtek window, and it says "auto" and has 2 speaker next to it, i found that using the first speaker has been helping with mines a bit, not sure if this will help you, but wouldn't hurt to try, good luck. thumb.gif
