[Guide] Setting up multiple BOINC Instances - Page 2

Linux default port is 31418 vs windows 31416?

I did get a 'no cc_config.xml file found, using defaults' message in terminal in prior attempts. I don't have one in my my windows machines either.

I restarted the PC, dumped by BOINC2 folder and did as above. Even with port 31422 and a sudo to start boinc I can't get BM to connect. With or w/o the password in gui_rpc_auth.

I tried again without the password and it now connects in BM and BOINCTasks. Awesome.

If you want, I can provide the scripts. smile.gif

Nice.  That would be handy if anyone is looking for a quick way to set up a few clients.  I don't need it, but I'm sure someone else will find it useful. :D

Typo on the default gui_rpc port. It is now fixed.  :)

Been playing with this for a couple of hours now, can't seem to get it to work.

Windows 7 pro typical boinc installation.

Never starts the second instance.

A second boinc.exe never starts? You can remove the -detach_console from the batch file and exit line so that the event log will display in the CMD window.

Nope, never starts, the bat file runs I see the CMD window flash but nothing....

Tried it on two different machines also....

Nothing...

I know it works, I've read all about it on other forums, just not working here.....

Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Even with the changes you mention above, the cmd window just flashes opens then immediately closes.

No second instance. Something is not allowing a second instance.

Ok I manually opened a CMD window and navigated to Boinc and started a second instance and it worked I had two instances running.... Showing in Task Manager....

Now to figure out why it won't start from the bat file...

Does it print out anything in the cmd window? The BOINC folders are all the same on your PC? Can you replace the exit with a pause instead to allow any text to be read.

I already had mine setup awhile back so I don't remember if there was some other setup I had already done to allow it to work.

Ok I can get a second instance running by going oldschool and using individual commands in the bat file... For example..
Code:
CD C:\
CD C:\Program Files
CD C:\Program Files\Boinc

boinc.exe

this gets a second instance running, but as soon as I add the client commands to have it work on the second directory, it fails and exits...

OK got it running second client up, second boinc manager window up and running.....
