An ode to my first build and it's beginner mods

Since I'm planning a Ryzen Build that will have some mods done to it, here's an overview of my mods from my first (and current) build. Nothing crazy, don't get too excited. This is more of an archive for me than to show off for you.

First I wanted some lights. I had some sound activated ones that I had in my old car I knew would work on the 12v rail. So this happened. I think I put this in a few days after I initally built it.

It actually worked very well and since I spliced the connector at the main power point the sound activation still worked. Paired with the angle they shone on the window it was a really cool effect.

Then I wanted more information. I was using an app on my phone that read data from a program over the wifi and let me monitor my temps and clock speeds and whatnot since I was overclocking stuff at this point. Started looking around and found this little 5" raspberry Pi screen. The rest is in the pics! Works wonders, and since I've upgraded to an RX 470 Nitro+ I have 2 HDMI ports so one can run the mini screen by itself instead of using a DP->HDMI adapter AND USB for power. (Not sure why the DP adapter cable didn't have enough power through it to run the screen)

I also added UV (Blacklight) LEDs around this time. 12v plugged in via a controller into MOLEX. Has a few settings (breathing, lightning, strobe etc) and lights up the cables I got. Not much of a mod, just me being too cheap to buy the "legit" ones.

You can also see my USB 2.0 hub that I stuck onto the case door. Makes it nice and easy to get to 4 ports without having to worry about stretching to the front panel or squeeze between my PC and TV.

Afterwards I decided I didn't need my optical drive, but DID need 2 intake fans up front. This case only had one. So this monstrosity ensued.

Zip ties at each corner of the fan to secure it, and then I dremelled the door, and finally hot glued in some plastic porch screen. I did clip those zip ties, so no worries. Looks iffy, works great. it's a 140mm fan (the only one in my case) and is hooked up to one of the two fan speed controllers that were built in to the case.

Started with this
(I know I just looked at a picture of my first computer that I personally bought / owned and my set up before it died, can't find it right now though sadly. Good ole HP Elite with an oooold AMD Quad Core in it. North Bridge chip fried itself one day... CPU went to a new home and still runs to this day lol)

After the inital build

Final Product! Faith is a beauty even for the budget build she is. I'm pretty proud of my ******* engineering or "beginner modding" if I wanna sound fancy.

And I can't wait to see the final product from my next build

Again, not trying to impress anyone but figured if I'm making an archive I may as well share it in case someone enjoys it haha.

Haha I found that pin when I was shopping one day and figured my PC needed a "Badge" It has since been replaced with a NES Controller pin.
