Time for an SSD Upgrade !

Thread Starter
Hello there OCN peps,

As the title said, i wanna ditch my 1TB WD Blue HDD for an SSD

tb served me well and still be enough for my needs,

In term of budget my around 200 to low 300€

so when i look at these price point on amazon, i see 2 choices

850 evo at 320€
and Crucial MX300 "1050GB" at 287€ <- What do you think of this one ?

I'm not doing any video editing, in my opinion, not a whole lot of read-write things, simply games.

i'm open to suggestion smile.gif

a piece of hardware can't slow down, it's performance is still the same
over time it becames slower in comparison to newer hardware
or
your hardware is faulty, an HDD will start to show read/write errors... and you must NOT use it in a NAS

so I still don't see a reason to spend so much money...
buy a new and quieter HDD or some dumping system
or a faster O.S.'s drive

MX300 vs 850evo
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crucial-mx300-ssd-review,4723.html
because it won't be for the O.S. I would go with Crucial

I own a define S case, if you have any anti vibration thing that comes to your mind, feel free to share as my HDD is mounted on the HDD plates at the back of the case which comes with rubber grommets for screw holes + sound dampening material on the side panels.... And i can still hear the HDD humming... I'm only fine when it goes in standbye mode and the motor stop spinning.

Been using my 1TB Samsung 850 Evo since Black Friday, 2016. It is such a luxury. I don't think I'd settle for anything less in the future, speed-wise or storage-wise. biggrin.gif

Seriously, if you've never used one before, you'll love it, and you won't ever wanna go back lol.

The MX300 is quick enough and RAIN tech is nice.

Yet the ssd software, while not necessary, is pretty bad (to say the least). More concerning is their warranty states they can offer a "store credit..(for) fair market value" in lieu of replacement.

To me, thats not good enough, so Id get something else.
