The Crosshair VI Hero is the cream of the crop as far as enthusiast AM4 boards. THe 1700X is great. The ram has been problematic. I would peruse the AM4/Ryzen ram thread so you don't buy something you won't be happy with.

If it's on the QVL there's a higher chance it will work but it also depends on the CPU's integrated memory controller.

The Samsung B-die RAM seems to be the best bet most of the time (3200Mhz CL14 or 3600MHz+)

Where can I find the am4/ryzen ram thread. Tried looking under amd cpu's but couldn't find something named like that.

How can I tell what ram has the Samsung B-die RAM? I have been out of the loop for keeping up with things since my last build.

Thanks reading up on it now. I have decided to save a few bucks and instead of going with the 1700x I am going to get the 1700 without the X unless the 65w vs the 95 watt makes a big difference.
