Item in bold refers.

Can you provide a link that shows the heat sink does NOT cover the memory and VRM's? Based on thermal screen shots carried out by Igor Wallossek at Tomshardware for the review of the 1080Ti Posiedon, it's apparent that the heat does cover both the memory and VRMs.

Believe one owner has taken apart his 1080Ti can can confirm the findings by Igor.

Edit: Link to Igor's review is here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-rog-poseidon-gtx-1080-ti-platinum,5151-6.html. Note what Igor says about memory and VRM cooling.

I cant find it right now, but I did look at Toms review which was less than stellar. The table says only the VRM mosfets are cooled and the RAM is cooled Via mounting frame on heat sink...so not truly covered by water?

Also in the conclusion they state it really slows down flow rates:

Obviously, a small, U-shaped heat pipe doesn't stand a chance against a proper water block with micro-channels. Furthermore, we noticed that flow through the pipe was almost halved compared to more purpose-built solutions. While this is still acceptable, it doesn't earn the ROG Poseidon any victories.

I'm still undecided, halving my flow rate is unacceptable.

Have any here has an issue with flow rate? Do you use any flow indicators?

I do not use any flow indicators, but have not had any issues with my card. In fact, my issue is with the card's fans producing an odd noise.

Caveat is that I don't know what my temps would be like if (1) I did not have an over-the-top radiator setup (480+360mm for i7 7700k + 1080 ti) or (2) If I had a different card with a traditional water block.

Under furmark/3D mark/heaven my GPU stays at or below 50C with pretty modest fan noise (1,000 RPMs on the noctuas is still reasonable on the ears).

If you're concerned about flow rate in current your loop, put in a flow meter to found out. Note that placing a flow meter within the loop causes a restriction / loss and contributes to a lower flow rate.

The largest flow restrictions are the CPU and GPU water blocks. If you have smooth runs with tubing and minimize the number of 90 deg bends/fittings, it will help reduce losses the pump sees and help keep up the flow rate. The number and type of radiators also has an impact. The flow rate on a custom loop will be unique to each build. You'll need to size your pump(s) accordingly. Some will use dual pumps on their single loop. Other will have independent loops for CPU and GPU.

In other words, there's lots of options available to overcome the flow rate issue.
