ASUS ROG GTX 1080 Ti Poseidon - Page 10

Interesting review of Asus 1080Ti Poseidon by tomshardware : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-rog-poseidon-gtx-1080-ti-platinum,5151.html

Surprised by their finding about the narrow heat pipe limits flowrate, the noise profile by the fans, higher temps between the GPU and cold plate.

They didn't test for when under liquid cooling, how the fans contribute to reducing the water temp as the heat sink acts like an additional radiator.

if you look at the test rig , there does not seem to be allot of airflow over the boards. Is that just one 140 fan??? He does have a chiller though. I am almost thinking he did not overclock it right. funny if you hit the newegg link..."BACKORDERD" hahaha

you always need allot of airflow moving for overclocking, I dare say even with a chiller

Finally, my water-kit arrived yesterday, put both cards under water and they run beautifully. I really must give asus some props, the fans are even at max. quiet, other air cooled cards are really noisy at 50% already. Since the fans are barely noticeable I put them at 35% at default and let them go up to 50%, the fans definitely make a cooling difference, I'm really happy. biggrin.gif But... I really have to do something about the tubes and cables... bigger case is the next thing on my list... rolleyes.gif

By chance did you use an SLI terminal for the cards at all? I am debating on getting an EKWB parallel SLI bridge when I get my second card but I am not sure if they have the same dimensions as the EK blocks.
I'm planning a huge upgrade with the ASUS Rampage VI Extreme, i9 and all that jazz but since everything is so expensive I don't want to order something that might not work and deal with returning it and all that..
Also a case will be an issue as well.. Really no good cases for water cooling imho... I guess the tower 900 would suffice but I do not like the motherboard layout and it's so huge..

Hey, no, I did it the more savage way by fittings and zmt tubing biggrin.gif...

About the case, I feel you, mine is pretty clustered and I'm thinkin about getting a bigger one. Here are some poseidon Sli builds, they've listed every part they used. https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/ycp323 <-- sending this because of the cases

Edit: keep in mind though, sli can introduce micro stutter or not being supported at all.

Contemplating this card. Can anyone tell me why you went this route instead of another model with water block? This isnt for benching it will be used for gaming. also my CPU is in the same loop so if my loop my fails the whole system is down, the air cooler wouldn't be of much use...

It's one of the best boosting 1080 Ti's, and you can watercool it later on, the block also covers the whole card and not only the core alone like other hybrid cards. It's also a hybrid card and sexy as fk rolleyes.gif

One of the best boosting 1080Ti's IMO (bone stock not touching it mine goes to 2011 out of the box in games) and actually the Fan plus waterblock is nice I use both at the same time to help cool the GPU which intern actually drops my water temps by a degree or two, not much but its still worth it considering the fans stay at 40% and I cant hear them.

That is really interesting... not only does it keep the GPU cool but it can also even help reduce water loop temps.... interesting indeed...
