[EFF] FCC Announces Plan to Abandon Net Neutrality and ISP Privacy - Page 3

Consider it a learning experience I guess. In 4 years when the next administration gets in, they'll see how badly this one screwed up and reverse everything yet again. In the meantime, we all get to suffer together, except the 1%. tongue.gif

But I got that from the unfiltered announcement: https://www.c-span.org/video/?427558-1/fcc-chair-unveils-net-neutrality-rewrite-calls-light-touch-approach which is clearly biased.
Like xenophobe, I didn't see all sorts of horrible things from an omnipotent censuring agency that I expected, but I haven't seen any good come out of this new FCC authority either.

To me net neutrality is just a power grab justified by unsubstantiated fear mongering, and I am delighted that there are gov workers that put people's freedom and prosperity above their own agency's greed for power.

Better to trust those who participated in making the internet what it is than a gov that chronically makes a mess of things.

We've had, what, two years of those kinds of fear mongering threads? It was fun the first time, but the rhetoric hasn't changed. At all.

^If the law makes it permissible for ISPs to do this, THEY WILL DO THIS 100% GUARANTEED.

Not sure this'll work out unless local monopolies are prevented. I'm normally pro-deregulation but only assuming that competition can proceed.

Little late to prevent what most of us already have, only one choice.

True, but it can always reverse. A lot of local governments are tired of waiting for promised internet upgrades and have begun fighting the regional monopolies.

Fallacious.

Things can and do get worse.

The most useful news is news that incites people to take constructive/productive/beneficial action. News that gives people an incentive to passively watch life play out is less useful. It ends up being vapid entertainment and nothing more.

News, therefore, does not need to pursue false objectivity and stasis. It can have a point of view. As long as that point of view has solid evidence to support it then it can be as propagandistic as it likes. Propaganda is only bad when the thing being sold has little credible evidence to back it up.

So, instead of complaining about propaganda, how about trying to rebut one or more specific points related to the article?
