This will be within a 1080 but at a cheaper price there will be different models. But the big disrupt will be the performance of the 4gb at $350+.

I agree if this thing is over $500 it better nutt up or shut up on performance because it will make them look silly.

Releasing a high end - enthusiast card with 4GB is not going to be taken lightly by the media or general population at this point in time. Whatever they cut from their bad dies, I hope the total vram stays at 8GB. HBM and HBM2 really appear to be hurting more than helping with AMD's constricted R&D budget.

HBM2 will not allow this card to be cheap. Say it comes between a 1070 and 1080. It needs to be 449.99 at the most.

Honestly i'd rather a 1070.

There's a big reason the 1060, RX series sell so well, and that's value to people on tight budgets which is a majority to the population than a subset of elite gaming RIGS that make up less than 1% in PC gaming.
The builds you see being done with 1080 are smaller compared to the people buying GTX 1060,1070 and RX 480.
AMD gained market share on the RX 480 by itself, and that's because of price/performance. And also because 60-70% of gamer's according to steam run their games at 1080p or below.

I don't think you read through my post. I have addressed why the halo segment matters and why AMD needs to ve strong there. I would actually even claim that they will never reach 50% market share without competing for the crown. Stardust is important.

Honestly i'd rather a 1070.

Then all NVIDIA has to do is drop 1070 price to $330-350 for most models.

If you consider the 6600W power supply the server has each, GPU can't get more than 205W even if all power was dedicated to the GPUs, which isn't the case obviously since there are other components that need power.

Actually MI25 is 12.5TF. And it is indeed passively cooled.
It's 25TF-FP16, and 12.5TF-FP32.

Very true. Being good in the midrange is great, but people look at what more each company can do. Hopes and dreams. Mind share.

I would say that they could even get by for quite a while had they released something to compete with the 1080, but having the 1070, 1080, Titan X, 1080 Ti and Titan Xp ahead of them is too much of a gap to the top.

Awesome teasing AMD. Lots of hype for nothing.
But Im sure in your marketing mind HBM makes up for the 1 year too late to the party.

Yep, thats what average joe care about. Not FPS in games. HBM

An unsourced leak has led you to conclude that Vega is a failure based on exactly one benchmark.

Wow.

It's like a combination of a fortune teller and... I guess Alex Jones?
