Either way, campy marketing has been an AMD "thing" for awhile now.....
All cores are not created equal.

Poor Voltage doesnt make any sense. Furthermore the ge is hidden, leaving Volta left. It's a direct challange to Volta hence if it doesnt beat Volta, its a failure. Anything less than 1080Ti will be

rolleyes.gif Hyperbolic much? Sounds like some marketing goon's failure maybe, but I'm not gonna throw the baby out with the bathwater, if the VR performance is better, dollar for dollar.

Because that TDP will probably translate directly to the consumer market, if not higher.

Not really. And it's a typical <300watt.

It's possible big vega to be <250 TBP with low temps

Wow so calling out a company that over promises and under delivers time and again is throwing out the bathwater? Other companies are called out with pitchforks on the rampage but when it comes to AMD they are the gospel and can do no wrong around here. Go figure.

Price is irrelavent in a performance metric. Underperforming is underperforming. No two ways around it.

Not for me it isn't. And I suspect I'm not alone. GPUs are not an ideology for me, they are a consumer good. If I'm not in the market for a 1080Ti, then I'm not in the market at that price level, plain and simple.

I didn't have a crystal ball when I picked up the 290x on preorder, but it's set the bar for longevity. Whatever Vega looks like, for me it needs to last another 4 years or I'm gonna be disappointed.

And hey, if Vega is weak then maybe 1080Ti is the card that still shows up on benches in 2021.

Nope. Price is irrelavent. They are two seperate things. As it currently stands, it is underperforming related to the Volta target.

The not in the market excuse has been floating around since the 390. So poor performance is a new term for not competing in the market? Glad to know. /s.

Ah, okay, now I'm lectured that price is not a factor in a competitive market. I'm in the market right now, and raw numbers aren't the only thing that pushes me toward one GPU or another. You don't have to come to terms with that if you don't want to, but it's no less true.

Am I taking crazy pills? Isn't this high-school marketing 101?

AMD abrogating the high-end is sad, but it has nothing to do with whether a product line is vertically competitive.

Nice to twisr my words around. I specifically mentioned performance metric, not competitive market. Im in the market too and raw performance is what im looking for. And its equally no less true for those who are looking at that.

Marketing 101? yeah, #1 basic rule, never overpromise especially when you cant deliver.
