Ryzen 1600x oc newbie need HALP!

Hi guys , total newbie here on the oc scene.
I wanted to try it out and I decided to go w ryzen master software since it seemed easier. I have some questions I hope you might help me with

Rig:
CPU - Ryzen 5 1600x (3.69 GHz stock)
Hydro h55 water cooler (small 120mm fan)
Ram : lpx vengeance Corsair 3200 Hz
Motherboard: Ab350 gaming 3 gigabyte
Psu; 750 coolermaster
GPU : R9 290 (yes I know it's old. Baby steps here)
Hdd : Samsung ssd 120 + 1tb Seagate sata
Bios : out of the box , have not flashed it.

Question:
I've set the oc to 4ghz flat, volt was set to 1.4375 (max is 1.55 ACC to ryzen master and any lower than that she crashes within first 2-3 min of prime95 blend test)
I ran the blend test for about six minutes , now Ryzen master software said temp was 70c but Hwmonitor said temp was 91c . In fear I stopped the test and shut her down. Question is , which temp is reliable ?
Also any and all pointers for oc are very very WELCOME !

You should try for 3.8 GHz first and see if the operating voltage and temperatures are more reasonable. Remember that Ryzen is already pushed near its limits by AMD since they want to show off what the new architecture can do. Also, make sure your version of HWMonitor is the latest. I believe there are known issues with the correct TJMax adjustment for Ryzen processors in that program.

Contrary to popular belief, the H55 is actually no better than a decent air cooler in terms of performance, so if you have to push the voltages way up past 1.425 to get 4ghz to work, you wont be doing it on that cooler without pegging 70c or higher. If you are already at 1.4375, and you still are unstable (run SMALL FFTS in prime) then dial it back by 25mhz, try it at 3975mhz and see if it levels off any. There is a very very fine dividing line on ryzen around 3.9-4.1 where you are either stable or extremely unstable, or need little voltage, or a ton of voltage. I've seen certain chips that needed 1.38 to hit 4ghz where as to hit 4.1 on the same chip you might need 1.5 or higher. Thats how fine the line is.

Thanks you both for replying back, I tried dialing down and I'm now running at
3.95 GHz w 1.4 volt flat.

Should I try break the 4gz by increasing volt? Temp are stable at 69-73c

Heat is killing you man. Mine gets unstable when it gets above 70C. I have been cooling with the H55 from Corsair, it really was not up to the task. Custom kit from EKWB arriving tomorrow.

You don't have the CPU cooler or the motherboard VRM to push that kind of voltage. The Corsair H55 is at best on par with 160-180W TDP 120mm fan 4 heatpipe CPU coolers such as the Cooler Master 212 Evo.

I'd advise staying below 1.3V and that correlates to about 3.8-3.9GHz unless you have a crap CPU (i.e. lost silicon lottery).

I am finding that spending the money on the cooler will pay in the long run.
