I would do more research in RAM. You probably want to get 3200 since 3000 will only run 2933.

It's the way the multiplier works on ryzen. It will be either 2933 or 3200, but not 3000.

So to ever have a chance of running at 3200 you would need a board with an adjustable BCLK in the bios?

I would dump the X370-Pro and look at some of the B350 boards. Take the money saved and put it towards getting some RAM that is guaranteed single-sided B-die.

Unless you really need the X370 features.

is a decent board. Weak-ish VRM layout, but it's only a 1600 right?

Then get this RAM:

You may have to use Ryzen Master to get it running DDR-3200, but that will cold boot to those speeds repeatedly without constant use of the software in the background.

Thanks Dr. I already ponied up for and ordered everything. I bought some very good ram. I figured what the heck. It was an hours pay so why sweat it. I just hope I get it by Friday. Do you think the Agesa code update when incorporated into bios updates this month will help much with the memory limitations?

so what made you decide on a 1600 over one of the full 8 core chips out of curiosity?
