New Monitor Suggestions

Thread Starter
I'm looking to buy a new monitor, and I figured I'd seek out suggestions from others before pulling the trigger. My budget is <$500, and I would like something that is relatively high resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio (2560x1600 at least), relatively large (27"+, but not larger than 42"), and with a flat, not-TN panel (VA, IPS, I don't really care) and a VESA mount. Color accuracy is nice, but not absolutely necessary. I'm also not opposed to buying a good used panel if it allows me to get a much nicer panel than I otherwise would be able to. This is primarily just a "general use" monitor for word processing and content consumption (no gaming or content creation), but I would like to have a nice, high resolution panel instead of some commodity screen.

Based on my research so far, I believe the Dell U3011 would do well, with some used examples on eBay for around $350-400, but the CCFL backlight means it will be a little more power hungry and a fair bit heavier than a normal panel.

Can't go wrong with a dell ultrasharp.
