Anyone knowledgable with VR?

Thread Starter
Just got a 1080ti and im wondering if its good timing to get A VR or not. Does anyone know if anything new or updated is coming out in the near future? And why one VR headset over the other?

I think there's a VR thread around here somewhere. I don't have any personal experience with it unfortunately. I considered buying a headset recently, but I also thought 'what's coming around the corner?' I believe higher resolution will be a better experience. Although even the mobile VR isn't bad at all and I imagine being powered by a powerful GPU would make the experience even better.

I think the two big competitors offer two different goals. One being more mobile in the room (Vive) and the other more for sitting there and costs less (rift).

I personally don't want the tech that is 1-2 years old but also haven't been following what's in store for the near future.
