Case reccomendations appreciated

Hey guys,

Quick question, I am looking for a case, preferably rack mount that I can use as a new home for a Dell 2950 v3. The goal is to go silent (or as near to as possible with this server) as it sits in my home office, by default it sounds like I am sitting next to a 747 taxiing on a runway and need to reduce the audible noise drastically.

I'm hoping to put the dual xeon processors under water cooling, however the stock chassis will not support this with all included hardware.

Please send case suggestions my way. I have complete faith in the ingenuity of this community to assist in my frankserver build.

Thank you in advance

I think 3U-4U chasis will work. You can check out storage-oriented chasis, as they offer a bit more cooling option for drives.
btw: I have an ASUS tower TS700, it's rackable, and it's pretty silent (using with dual 2683v3). I'm planning to jump on caselabs soon, and mine will be for sale shortly.

Anything shorter than a U3 case will be loud as your current case, make sure to change the CPU cooler too anything compatible with the CPU socket\mount and under the height restriction should work.

Other than that without more information like drive configuration (or expandability), power requirements (do you need redundant PSUs), it's hard to really nail down what case to recommend.

essentially I am looking to move the 2950 into a bigger case to either update aircooing options via fan controller, or possibly under water. I would prefer to keep existing stock hardware intact. but I can not find alternate alternate server chasis with similar rear io configuration. At this point I am considering just scrapping the unit ( pulling what I can and moving them into an aftermarket 771 ssi ccb board with updated Case as a stand alone tower. ) my Sever in question is thus: Dell 2950 v3
