[Eurogamer] Chet Faliszek has left Valve - Page 4

With the amount of people that say Valve doesn't make games, (even though that is false), they clearly haven't see the fairly recent interview with Gabe (Which happened after the AMA with Valve), where he states that there are 3 games in developement, using either the Source 2 Engine or Unity Engine.

The Interview is worth a watch, some interesting things said, there are more

Outsourcing doesn't count - that said, I didn't watch the video and they might very well be doing something in house.
When's the last time they actually released something?

In the interview Gabe states that they are activily developing 3 games, that are set for release. The interviewer asks if they will really release, due to Valve being notorious for dropping developement on games, and they relied that this is not the case and are very active in the developement of these games and will be releasing in the near future.

Nothing was said about the games themselves, and one or two will probably be VR titles, as Valve spoke alot about VR.

While Valve has not released anything new in a while, they are active in maintaining the games they did release. I don't really see a fault in long release times, as valve is active in other fields besites steam and games. And anything valve releases is generally top quality.
It's not like Blizzard/Rockstar/CDproject/Bethesda release games often either, they also have long developement cycles and only develope games.

EA could say the same thing and that still doesn't make them developers, they are publishers.

12 years ago? Sure. But that's in the first two quoted sentences in the OP (also below), so I'm not sure if you're making a joke.

Chet Faliszek has brought his 12 year career at Valve Software to a close, our sister site GamesIndustry.biz has revealed.

Faliszek, who alongside fellow Valve employee Erik Wolpaw was behind the much-loved Old Man Murray site, contributed to Half-Life 2's episodes and helped define Portal and its sequel's off-beat sense of humour.

First DotA was a mod, and wasn't made by valve, Dota 2 is a new game completely, made by valve

God if you're misinformed, Valve is not like EA or Blizzard-Activision, they have their own development teams, and they also work with others. They worked in every games they published, some less, some more, some fully, Dota 2 is completely developed by Valve, CSGO is not, HL2 is completely Valve, L4D isnt, and so on...

I don't understand all the Steam hate. Without Steam the PC platform would be dead. The mid 2000s was a dark time for the PC, Steam and GoG helped a lot to make it a good choice over consoles for the masses.

Dota 2 is basicly Dota imported in the Source engine. Development actually means spending time to... develop. There is literally nothing different in Dota 2 and Dota. Same skill names, skills, champions, items, heck even the ancient str, int, agility system for the heroes is due to the limitations that was present in WC3.
