[AnandTech] Enermax Fan Air Guide

Thread Starter
I just saw AnandTech's next giveaway for their 20 years anniversary and noticed Enermax has come out with a new fan accessory that I think is pretty cool. There's no other announcements about it I can find or reviews. Only the AnandTech post mentions it; so sorry if not the right text format.

Quote:
For the final piece of the cooling kit, for better aligning airflow Enermax has also thrown in one of their EAG001 air guides. The adjustable guide is specifically meant for tower CPU coolers and other 120mm fan devices, allowing a system builder to change the direction of the airflow by rotating the guide’s grill.

The only other fan accessory I can think of like it is the Nexus BeamAir Fan Grill:

Comes with extra noise AND lower performance. Two for the price of three.

So it's an airflow "polarizer" with angled fins? Or are the fins on that not angled?

If it's just meant to concentrate airflow, Silverstone has done this for awhile on their AP fans.

Noctua also does this on a few of their fans I believe.

They're angled, hence the 360 twist to guide the air.
Air guides work if you are trying to blow air at something specific, but on the exhaust end of a heatsink it seems pretty pointless to me.

The image above shows the point; you can angle the CPU exhaust to better align the air flow with the rear case fan. I think it would be even better if the fins tilted up and down but it's still a 'cool' idea nonetheless haha

better to use a ducting hose tbh, but its a more appealing idea, since it doesn't look as hideous as a ducting hose.

I suppose if you're going for an air direction solution and care about aesthetics, like epic1337 mentioned, you'd go for the Enermax since much less ugly and you could set it up in more places as your rig changes; more room for various goals.
