Freesync not working properly

Hi All,

I am having this issue particularity in BF1 where I have freesync enabled in the driver options. But when I get into a game in BF1 freesync will not work until I switch from borderless mode and then back to fullscreen. After I do this it works as it should, but I have to do it at the start of every game and it's getting pretty annoying. I just want it to work. Has anyone else had this issue or is there a resolution to this? I am currently on drivers 17.4.3.

Thanks!

Not 100% sure on this, but if i remember correctly, Vsync doesn't work in windowed mode. So i assume the same applies to Freesync and Gsync in borderless windowed mode, which is essentially still windowed mode.

Maybe just configure the game to always use fullscreen. I can't imagine you're gonna have to alt + tab out of the game a lot.

Hi Unseen0,

Thanks for the response. I should have mentioned before that my game when it launches is on fullscreen in the game options. But for whatever reason it's not until I switch to borderless and switch back to fullscreen mode that freesync begins to work. Has this been an issue in the past? Is there an additional setting somewhere in the game or in the drivers that needs to be enabled for this to work without having to do this every game? It just seems strange that it takes me doing this to jump start freesync of sorts.

Unfortunately, i have no experience with freesync (yet). My earlier response was purely a guess on what it could be.
Maybe u could have a reinstall of your drivers to prevent any software issues. You also might wanna take a look at the AMD settings of your GPU is there is indeed any option to enable Freesync.

Does the problem happen with multiple games tho, or just one? Maybe play around with BF1's vsync setting(s) to see if that does any good. Other then that, i wouldn't know what else to look for at this time.
Maybe other users can assist you better on this issue if they have first hand experience with Fsync.

I have tried uninstalling the drivers using DDU and re-installing them. I have also tried 17.4.4 to no avail. Attached are my current settings. Pretty much default.

I also tested in CS:GO also and in Bioshock Infinite and the same thing occurred so I am pretty much at a loss for this. I just want to use a feature that I paid for and it seems that it rarely works and it's becoming increasingly frustrating.

I just noticed something. In windows, it's using the Generic PnP drivers. As you can see above that the drivers recognized my monitor. How do you fix this issue? I have the drivers for my monitor from BenQ but it's just a .ini file.
