MSI GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X Owner's Thread.

Thread Starter
So I just upgraded to this beast of a card from its predecessor the MSI 980 Ti Gaming and thought why not start its official thread. After all the 980 Ti Gaming was a powerful card and had much love here with modded BIOS and such.

Price I paid: £680

The card pretty much stands its ground against other custom 1080Tis and in my opinion is THE best looking, just like the 980 Ti gaming was.

Looking froward to seeing clock speeds from other owners and maybe we can get some modded BIOS to push it to its limite.

Chime in and let the games begin!

this is the card i purchased. Was upgrading from a founders edition 1070 gtx. I only just got my pc a year ago so this was my first time swapping anything out. Thanks to sites like these thought i was well prepared before hand and everything went perfectly fine. My temps are much better now i get around 50-60 c as with my 1070 i was getting high 60 low 70. I get +100 core +500 memory on the overclock. I get a steady 2025-2050 mhz while playing.

I do really want that evga hybrid though haha i guess ill have to wait til my next upgrade to opt for one of those.

Just got mine yesterday, upgraded from GTX 780 Ti SLI. Not had much of a chance to play with it yet, but out of the box the boost clocks go to 1962 MHz, so not too shabby!

One thing though, no matter how stressed the card is, in GPU-Z (1.20.0) it shows the card always running at x 8 speeds, even though it is in the fist x 16 slot on my motherboard (Asus Z270 Prime-A). All BIOS settings are at Gen 3, there seems to be no option to force x 16 specifically - anyone else have this?

I haven't had a chance to try overclocking yet, but this is one of the most well built cards I have ever had; it is a beast both in terms of power, and size and weight! One thing I had not picked up on from reviews was the fact that the fans only start to spin up once it gets over 50C, so for desktop use it is just passively cooled, and therefore utterly silent. Even when the fans spin up I can't hear the over my undervolted case fans.
My only issue is that under load there is a fair amount of coil whine, but when I'm gaming I can't hear it over my speakers anyway wink.gif

Got this for about 2+ weeks or so. Dead silent, overclocks to 2113 stable with 1.093mv but I'm running it at 1911 with 0.900mv to be extra silent + cool + never hitting power limit, and it looks quite nice inside the case:

Got mine a few days ago from Micro Center. Paid $740 ($420 from 1070 return) + $80 warranty. Ran great out of the box, but decided to OC anyways. Got to +100/+500 easy. Hasn't broken 69C yet. Played Titanfall 2, Prey, Dishonored 2, RoTR, Watch Dogs 2. The card is pretty silent. The Gigabyte G1 1070 Mini was pretty quiet, but this card is way more powerful and even quieter. I love it!

Think I might have lost the silicon lottery on mine can't OC mine. I see most people are getting +100 / +500 on theirs, if I try that my PC locks up even before I try and run anything :/
