We all ignore things we'd rather not believe.

I think the last really really good GPU from AMD was the 290X. The only reason I have Fury's in my rig is that they were $300 and they're much better than the 380X pair I had.

I'm cautiously optimistic and I realize that we all really need this card to be successful.

Ryzen is a great succes, the hype was real, and so is the product, absolutely trashed Intel. Has nothing to do with Vega tho. So i'm not sure why you'd bring that up.

Of course Nvidia wouldn't. Then the consumer would notice they are heavily sandbagging and they can't sell us mid-range products at high-end prices. rolleyes.gif

Everyone have done it. Not just nvidia.
AMD have inflated prices up for years until fermi finally took AMD's lead. Fermi was actually very well price/performance placed, way more than AMD, which helped nvidia dominate from keplar up. AMD prices are low so they can compete in price/performance market. If they had the lead in performance, they would have done the same (and they tried, but failed).
So bashing nvidia but ignoring AMD's history, is hypocritical

It's not possible, nvidia are the bad guys, AMD the good ones

Actually Fermi is when amd price inflation started. With the 7970. Which happens to be when AMD gpu sales started taking a noise dive

In some very specific workloads, Ryzen is very good value. But for an allround PC, it's not that great. Performance is hit and miss.

3.0 to 3.7-4.1 GHz, 3.9Ghz average is not a good OC? That's the cheapest 8 core there is and gets 30% OC quite easily on all 8 cores and even if you're the unlucky minority with a dud you get 23%+ OC anyway.
The gains in % and total performance from OC on Ryzen are big way bigger than from a 7700K some people praise where you get 15% per core if you have a strong cooling and/or delid the crappy Intel manufactured integrated heat trapper.
So with R7 1700 you get 8*30% = +240% but with 7700K only 4*15% = +60% total performance gain, yeah that's 4 times more.

Ryzen is good overall where as Intel 4 cores that cost the same are only good for poorly optimized workloads that rely on low thread count with as high single thread performance as possible.
If you hunt every last useless FPS for CSGO then sure Intel is still probably the way to go with even crappy CPUs like the 7350K that clock as high as possible.
On the other hand you can now get a 6900K equivalent called R7 1700 for 1/3rd the price...

---

NV is making a new arch. but 2018 soonest.
AMD will show their hand first with newer arch. although they are taking their sweet time launching it. Whether or not the new VEGA features will be well supported in future applications remains to be seen but they are decent features for sure.
