What AMP for DT990 Pro's 250 Ohm?

My onboard sound isn't enough, I tried a Fiio A3 but it's still too quiet and distorts when turned up?!

I'd prefer mains powered as the Fiio picked up static from my USB ports and I'm guessing I do t need a DAC as I'm planning on using the 3.5mm line out from my motherboard.

And I don't want to spend any more than £100 at most.

And ideally I want something available in the U.K.

That mains powered? Also isn't that a DAC as well?

Honestly the Fiio E10k is not going to drive those headphones very well. Given you also need a DAC and an amp could you give us an idea of how much you want to spend before we make suggestion.

For instance I am using the Schiit stack (magni and modi 2) but there could very well be better options for your price point.

Why do I needs DAC? I have a Fiio D03K but I don't think I need it as I'm using the 3.5mm output of my motherboard. I mentioned £100 for an AMP.

I'm obviously new to this and all I want is something to amplify my 3.5mm output that's capable of driving my DT990's.
I apologize I didn't notice you already mentioned a price point.

I apologize as I mis-read.

If you are wanting to spend around 100 I would suggest

https://www.amazon.com/Schiit-SCH-0702-Magni-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00SCBKPW2/ref=lp_13880161_1_3?s=audio-video-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1494497055&sr=1-3

For your price point this is a reliable amp that will drive the 990s, now it is possible that you could shop around and find something discounted in the same ballpark price range, but headphone amps arent exactly a hot ticket item that I see discounted often.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look, will it definitely drive the 990's OK? That Fiio A3 does a crap job.

Yes I use it on the 250 ohm 990s currently.
