120mm radiator fan recommendation

Thread Starter

Hey guys,

I've been out of the loop with PC stuff for a while but just did a new build with my old cooling gear. I need to replace some noisy fans on a Swiftech MCR-320 radiator. I'm looking for fan recommendations or a good source of reviews or comparisons. I'm sure the options have changed since I last looked years ago. I need a fan with bearings that can handle horizontal mounting with a long life, and preferably have PWM control. The RPM range I'm looking at is probably around 1500-2000 at full speed. Good static pressure would help, but the radiator isn't that restrictive so I don't need anything extreme. Any input is appreciated.

BQ SW3 is a favorite these days, but the PWM control is iffy: http://thermalbench.com/2016/10/21/be-quiet-silent-wings-3-120-mm-high-speed-fan/
Also a good source for reviews: http://www.overclockers.com/author/ehume/

Thermalbench (our own geggeg) uses MCR radiators for his testing. I prefer his or CoolingTechnique testing because they both test fans' full range of speed. If you are like me (and most others) we do not run hour fans at full speed 99.999% of the time .. if ever.

ehume does a good job of testing, but he only tests at full speed.
