Schiit Modi not working with pre-amp.

The audio equipment is as follows:

Power Acoustik 4-band Graphic Equalizer With Subwoofer Output and CD/Aux selector switch
Schiit modi
M-Audio AV 40s
Dayton Audio Sub-1200
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro 64 Ohm (irrelevant for now)

So I have spliced an adjustable 12 V adapter to connect to my pre-amp. Lights on it are working and everything. I even took a peek inside to see if I could see any capacitors that exploded and everything checks out, same with the Modi.

Theoretically everything should be working, but its not. I was using my headphones for a while and thought I would like to go back to the speaker system (which was working previously) when I went to try to get the speaker system working, I got no sound. The Modi still registers in the playback devices, but when I go to test the speakers, I get nothing.

I have checked and rechecked everything regarding how things are hooked up in the chain and nothing is working.

Does anyone know what is happening here? Is there a way I can get my speakers and Sub to work?

What do you mean spliced in. You need to describe this in detail, because what ever your issue is, its obviously stems from the fact that you didn't simply plug everything into the wall.

The pre-amp is for a car and I used a standard adjustable AC adapter to connect to the pre-amp.

What I did was took this adapter:

And cut off the ends. I hooked up the wires to This.

This is the only way I know how to plug in the pre-amp to the wall.

So I should prolly mention that when I came up with this setup I was told to do it like this from people on this forum. Not sure why people don't want to help me narrow down the problem now that it isn't working.

I'm not sure.

I am currently looking through my old thread to see if I missed something, found here.
