XQEMU is a open source, cross-platform emulator for the original Xbox (and Sega Chihiro). It is currently in very early stages of development. XQEMU is built on-top of QEMU.
How ironic it is to see an API made to unleash pc platform gaming power being wasted by mainstream gaming, but yet used to make emulation of a console better...
One of the reasons i always loved PC platform is the open environment and community to make things happen...
No it didn't.Cemu was years in the making before it suddenly began playing tons of commercial games.
XQEMUs development has been painfully slow, and the people working on it right now appear to be working on peripheral projects that will make Xbox emulation better eventually. The Cxbx-R team are doing a lot more right now. It isn't as if the two projects are in competition, but at the moment I think cxbx-r stand a much better chance of xbox pla- ability within the next two years. The good parts of XQEMU are going to be cannibalized rather than the other way around.
PS. They have Jet Set Radio and Panzer Dragoon Orta bootable already, but the graphics are still a mess.

This is cool, but OG Xbox's go for like $10...and are at every pawn shop and second hand store...and games are cheap as dirt. $20 is an expensive Xbox game. Also, most Xbox games already have PC ports, so the whole "better graphics" thing is kinda moot...the only real benefit I can see to this is maybe online play somehow. Heck, pretty sure Jet Grind Radio is on Steam even, most Sega games are on Steam. Anyway...gonna go play my $10 Xbox and not wait for Xbox emulation to be perfect. Also, average price on Xbox games around here is about $2.
The PC port was really bad and the only reason it is still played today is because of the incredible modding tools that were released. The port itself was graphically inferior to the console version (in terms of effects), had numerous bugs, and had some of the most garbage netcode I've ever seen in a game.
Halo 2 had the same problems AND added GFWL on top of it and did not have the level of mod support, hence its demise.
The Master Chief Collection port of Halo 1 is a much better port than the PC version (minus the modding scene of course).
Well for one the original game had different colored shield for the different ranking jackels on the PC not only did they remove this but they massively nerfed the textures, and the gun on PC is missing the scratches and minor details on it. and the game didnt have any active camo effects on nvidia hardware. and to top it all off the audio was glitchy as heck.
Have you seen SPV3 or any of the other dedicated modding communities for Halo:CE on PC? Honestly it was (and still is) one of my favorite PC games of all time and still has a very active community. I do not think the port was nearly as bad as other PC ports we have seen in recent times.
