Palm grip users, do you have to somewhat force a palm grip or do your fingers naturally lie flat?

The question is located in the title.

The reason that I'm asking this is because I want to use palm grip, however my fingers naturally arch into a claw grip. I'm wondering if I stick with a palm grip for a while, will my fingers become used to it and it will become natural?

Sounds like your mouse is too small for your hands. You can certainly get used to any grip, but should listen to your body and use what feels most natural and comfortable to you.

Mouse size and shape plays a big role as well. Since if the mouse has a specific shape that forces you into a certain grip, anything other than what the mouse shape dictates won't feel controllable (even if you prefer a different grip style).

If your mouse has a safe shape, that will allow for multiple gripstyles then it will be easier to find what is most comfortable for you. Although if you have found your preferred gripstyle , then it might be wise to get a mouse that is specifically designed for that grip.

And to answer your question, i use all 3 gripstyles depending what i do/play . And whenever i use a palmgrip, i just naturally rest my hand on top of the mouse and my fingers are mostly flat and relaxed.

So your hand curling into a clawgrip, sounds like your mouse is too small for your hands and/or the shape forces you into it.

But everyone is different, so clawgrip might be your style. You shouldn't try to force a grip , instead use what feels natural to you. Find what is best for you and stick with it.

The majority of fps players use palmgrip (probably because it is the most natural way of gripping a mouse and in palmgrip your hand makes the most contact with the mouse), then claw and a small portion uses fingertip.

For a long time I was a hybrid claw/palm gripper and I arched my fingers. I didn't play games all that often and that always worked for me. After overwatch came out and I started playing regularly I found that my pointer finger knuckle could not handle the abuse from being arched so I forced myself to play full on palm grip. I'm not really sure how long it took to get used to it but I don't think it was all that long. Maybe 3 days or so of being mindful of how I held the mouse every time I played. Now I full on palm grip, can play for hours with no pain and actually aim better than I ever have. The best advice I can give you for palm grip aiming is go low sensitivity.... Not sure what games you play but my sensitivity is around 36.85 CM/360

My grip depends on the type of mouse I'm using. At home, my Razer Deathadder accommodates palm grips very nicely. At school, the tiny Dell mice force a claw grip. I think it also depends on sensitivity. For reference, I play CS:GO at 400DPI with 1 sensitivity. People think I'm crazy, but I'm just comfortable with a really low sensitivity. A claw grip makes long, sweeping movements difficult.

That is pretty insane, no mouse accel nothing? how can you even check corners with a sens that low.

Maybe on a low level or maybe if you only play AWP i can see this work, if you play on a higher level (Global,Esea,Faceit) it is way too low cus people play more off angels and you cant react that fast

but whatever just do what works for you

I was MGE before I stopped finding CS fun. I stopped playing and settled to around GN2. Crosshair placement is the biggest thing, but I can do some decent flicks and whatnot. With how big my mousepad is, around one swipe is 180 degrees. It's not little swipes. When I play, its a big swipe. If I play at higher sensitivities, I can't seem to focus. I like playing with a hammer rather than a knife.

Lowest i played was 70cm/360 and it didn't work for me. My accuracy was sick though, but i got annoyed having to move so much. So i raised it to 48cm/360 it is higher than i would like to, but it feels like it doesn't restrict my movement in any games.

Granted it is low even for Counter Strike, but there are a few pros that use a sens similar to his.

Skadoodle, Waylander, Swag and tabsen and then you have Niko (he is without a question one of the best players) and Guardian.

Grip style depends on hand size/composition and unfortunately most gaming mice aren't made for adult sized hands. Smaller and low weight mice have become popular and are sort of a compromise, but I think its dumb that bigger products don't exist.

I don't recommend forcing grips (product should feel natural in hand), but some mice cater to different aim styles so be aware of that.
