Dell S2417DG/S2716DG. 1440p 144Hz/165Hz Gsync displays. The IPS versions of these monitors such as the Asus PG279Q, Acer XB271HU, etc... are too damn expensive costing at LEAST $200 more just for a super glowass IPS panel and given it's now 2 year old tech now that's just dumb.
ive ran thru a good amount of monitors last month or so and have a couple on order. with that said I was using the xb271hu for 30 days. was awesome. returned and got the 27 asus 4k hated it and just picked up today and currently using the Dell S2716 as mentioned earlier. no brainer, for that much this the monitor to go with. I have a Samsung s34 which I was gonna just always keep. 60hz is a thing of past if your pushing enough gpu power. so I'm now gonna keep the dell as my always have monitor instead. you cant beat it for 499. yeah its a tn but for me that's not enough of a deal breaker. if your a gamer I would highly recommend the Dell.

(tough decision for me, because I could end up going triple 1440p later on)
EDIT: I just realized your monitor is TN - I suppose IPS 144Hz 1440p was too good to be true at that price point for a Dell monitor (Not sure how I feel about TN - not many games I play are hitting 144FPS in 1440p except for Final Fantas XIV but I prefer the color > input lag in MMOs)
I'd stick to something with Gsync. No, it won't make a stuttering game play smooth or make 30 fps feel like 60 but it will let you run games and drop some frames without dealing with massive Vsync drops or horrible triple buffering input lag.
Awesome game-play you got going on there. I'm guessing you sit all day starring at the opening scenes instead of playing the damn game?
Meh, over-exaggerated thanks to the camera. Most are nothing like that in-person and i'll gladly take that instead of color shifting which is nauseating for me especially in fast paced shooters.

My Xb270hu and x34 both have backlight bleed. The Xb270hu backlight bleed went away over time but my x34 still shows it on an all black screen.
I have a love/hate relationship with gaming ips. They can look pretty damned amazing, or just plain terrible depending on the content on screen. IPS also have worse response times which is evident from noticeable blur compared to their tn counterparts. Don't believe bogus marketing numbers.
The Asus IPS gaming monitors are notorious for their batches with terrible backlight bleeding.
Not all IPS monitors however have enough backlight bleeding to be irritating or noticeable during normal use ( I guess some people can't tell that starring at an all black screen isn't normal use for a monitor
).
IPS is still king.
Especially for those who do more than just gaming with their monitor.
I just spent $460 ($512 after tax) on the IPS panel I already own
I figured even though it's probably discontinued it's best to have two of the same monitors just in case I plan on getting a third one down the line.
EDIT:
Would you recommend me returning the monitor back to Amazon,
and buying two used ones off eBay for $300-350?
I am not sure which is a better option - I would hate to have two used monitors and get stuck pixels though... The shipping cost to send it back to the buyers on ebay would suck (and not all of them accept returns)

Exactly those 144hz IPS panels are the worst offenders when it comes to glow. And no you don't have to be staring a full black screen for it to be noticeable
Look I am all for IPS if they just fixed the damn bleeding, glowing, and **** contrast, which the new FALD are "suppose" to fix. So once those come out and it eliminates that issue then I'll be back to an IPS panel myself.
I have 2 "friends" ( people I met via a forum and chit chat every now and then, and have been to each other's place for beers + gaming ) who have been through 3-4 RMAs each one with Asus until they finally landed a decent PG279Q monitor with very little bleeding ( the first ones they were given off the shelves of the shop were a true NIGHTMARE however! )
Asus has really gone down low on QA.
I've heard much better experiences and average bleeding numbers for Dell, Eizo and even HP!
Its so mind boggling why people think TN is a bad word, and IPS is godly or something.
Get the dell, its the best gaming monitor in existence right now (and the 24" is superior due to the less aggressive screen coating).
