RX 580 - Sapphire Nitro+ or MSI Gaming X

Hi, speculating between the above mentioned cards. Nitro+ (1411 boost, 2000 memory) and Gaming X (1393, 2025)

1. Any preference on either of these based on cooling, VRM, power phase etc?
2. Nitro+ needs one 8-pin, one 6-pin. Gaming X needs one 8-pin only. Should that translate to potentially higher OC for Nitro+?
(two reviews of MSI card took boost clock upto 1490 and 1525 MHz. So it seems to be a non-issue.)
3. Any idea/estimate which company does better quality-checking?
(Bringing the card from USA. So cannot RMA it or claim warranty even if it's DOA. That's why asking)
Thanks in advance

I have an issue with my Saphhire Nitro+ RX480 8Gb OC that I will certainly RMA (I'm in touch with Sapphire).

BUT, I've always bought Sapphire cards since... maybe 15years (except for an ASUS HD4870) I think, and have never been disapointed by this brand except for this one card.

They have a good customer service, and they respond quickly and responsibly.

I haven't bought any MSI product so far.

I've owned multiple Sapphire cards (HD 7950, HD 7990 though that was a reference cooler, and 2 R9 Fury Nitro cards), and now I have an MSI 980 Ti, and I have close friends with MSI 970s and 1080s. None of us have had any problems with either brand, so I don't really think you can go wrong with either. However, I have heard that at least the Sapphire RX 480 cooler was a little sub-par by their standards, but I think the 580 cooler has improved. If it were my decision, I'd base it on aesthetics, though I tend to be a form over function guy.

1. Sapphire beefed up it's line up with Polaris 2.0.
2. OC comes down to the silicon lottery.
3. Ed at Sapphire says they use binned chips. Probably why Sapphire and XFX have the highest out of the box clocks.

I like the new Sapphire RX 580. If we where still talking about the old sapphire RX 480. I'd say MSi.

Newegg had stock of the Nitro on May 23. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202280
Superbiiz had it on May 18th https://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-NT5808G

You'd probably have better luck importing from Europe due to higher electricity prices on average. Because of the higher electricity prices you won't see as many miners buying all of them.

Also you'll want the card tested regardless of what brand it is.

Buying from Europe isn't a viable option for me as I'm bringing it through my friend. It's likely that it will be in stock within next 3 weeks.. right?

My experiences using MSI's 480 Gaming X has taught me one thing: Never get another MSI GPU.

The first one was dead out of the box. Artefacts everywhere even when not under any load, crashing Windows constantly, coil whine even when not under any load.
I took it back to the retailer the next day for a replacement; which also has horrible coil whine. Because whine isnt a fault, they refused to replace the replacement card.

Six months later, I've noticed other little issues as well. Most notably, the weight of the TwinFrozr VI cooler and its placement on the PCB means that it is bending the graphics card slightly.
The GPU is central, as are one end of the heat pipes; however the pipes trail towards the front of the PC case which moves the weight of the heatsink away from the supported edges of the card.

Also the illuminated MSI logo on the side has a constant blue tint regardless of which colour settings are chosen in the MSI software. Red is pink and white is light blue.

I cant fault the performance. But I wont ever buy another.

How does it compare to RX 580 Nitro+? As you know RX 580 are out of stock everywhere, so I'm considering this though it's overpriced for a 580.
This XFX model is faster out of the box(1450/8100) and uglier but I'm asking about its PCB design, power phase and cooling(noise) capabilities...
If it's the same GTR that's sold elsewhere it should have top tier components with a so-so cooler (in terms of noise).

It appears to be a lazy copy-paste of the RX 480 GTR with a different color fan.
