right now Im using a gh5 and the 4k files are large and im editing on an old Z77 motherboard, one of main reasons I want to upgrade is because I want to use PCIe SSDS for those super fast speeds ect.

Specs:

Asus 24' 144hz 1ms HD monitor
z77 ds3h gigabyte motherboard
i7 3770k 4.2ghz
corsair 16gb ddr3 1600mhz
fractal design r4 case
cryorig hybrid cpu cooler a40
evga g2 750 watt psu supernova
gtx 980 ti gigabyte ( keeping for new build)
BenQ 32' 4k monitor ( keeping for new build)

the ports on that motherboards are not that great usb 3 is fastest on there.

here is what I am lookin at atm.

thanks for any advice, ive already ordered a 1TB ssd for editing in premiere pro and a 1TB ext drive for all my old files I wont be using. I think I can get about $600 for those parts above (Current Setup) and end up spending $900-1000 for the new parts.

I would seriously try for 32GB of RAM if you plan on regularly working with 4K footage. I work with Resolve and Vegas pretty regularly so I'm making some assumptions as to how Premiere works based on my experience, but I can easily saturate my 32 on my main rig or even up to 64GB on my server editing and encoding a 10'ish minute 4K project. The encoding speed slows significantly when the available memory has been filled up. I also just wanted to mention I've been through 2 of those Asus X99-A's myself. The first one had a bad memory channel so a quarter of my RAM wasn't usable, and the second one had the same problem (but a different set of slots) before blowing something in the VRM area and taking my 5820k with it. I finally ended up with an MSI X99 Tomahawk which has been much more stable for me. I picked up another 5820k on eBay suspiciously cheap for $250 which turned out to be an excellent overclocker and is happily running 4.8GHz under water right now. Now I almost wish I had waited. Intel and AMD have workstation-targeted chips coming out over the Summer to replace X99 so depending on how urgently you need to upgrade it might be worthwhile to wait. If nothing else X99 boards and chips will probably drop in price for a while when the new lineups launch if you aren't afraid to buy used.

yeah thanks for that info, im going to wait anyways someone said june 2nd is when they will say what they are releasing? it will take longer than a few weeks or maybe months to sell my current rig. as for the ram I can get another 16gb if im not happy. Ill try one of those MSI X99 boards then.

The PSU you picked is overkill and overpriced as there are better options that cost less, the EVGA SuperNova G2/P2T/2 are both better and cheaper or if money is no problem the Seasonic Prime is far better
You dont need 850 watt unless you are going to have two video cards, as littie as a 550 watt is more then enough if you are not doing SLI/Crossfire setups

The CPU cooler you picked is mediocre overhyped overpriced loud and reliable

Don t buy a rubbish CLC cooler buy a real open AIO kit from either EK or Swiftech or one of the new ones from Be Quiet or Fractal Design
http://www.overclock.net/t/1590547/why-you-should-probably-not-buy-a-clc-cooler

The RAM and case you picked i personally tacky but if you like them you can keep them but there are better options out there that cost less and looks better
Last why are you getting a 6800K when its no better then the older 5820K yet cost more? you might as well wait for LGA 2066 then

Most of the stuff you picked can be found better and/or cheaper.

ok thanks for the info, I can change those things to save money ect. depending on price of lga 2066 i might get that, when will it be out?
main thing that got me thinking of upgrading is fact of the pcie m.2 ssd being so fast and half my rig is outdated while other half isnt.

I dont plan on upgrading until I can find someone to buy this current rig anyways.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_2066
LGA 2066, also called Socket R4, is an upcoming CPU socket by Intel that will debut with Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors in June 2017

Intel will also have a new Core I9 series which means that for the first time they will have a 10 core and a 12 core CPU
If they really are out in June then i really dont see the point of getting last gen tech so late unless you just have and need to have it right now.

OCN has a sub forum under the marketplace where you can ask for advice on pricing
http://www.overclock.net/f/325/appraisals

I dont think you can sell your stuff on OCN as i think it requires 25 rep or something like that (cant recall)
Or did you ask about prices on the new stuff?

Edit: never mind it seems like you have used the marketplace before

Just FYI, the new Fractal expandable AIO (Celsius) is an Asetek product with a weak pump and aluminum radiator. Would not recommend personally

I think you are partially right. I think the Fractal Design Celcius is Asetek OEM with aluminum radiator while the Fractal Design Kelvin is Aphacool OEM with copper radiator.

I can't really tell but it looks like the Kelvin series is EOL, at least here in NA. Newegg doesn't seem to be carrying them anymore and the S24/S36 had significant price drops last month on Amazon (both were available for $111 from April 26th through the 2nd).

We should really make a table of all of these AIOs

I don't know about the EOL, Kelvin are available here in Europe. I agree, we need an accurate table of all AIO / CLC coolers with detailed data of pump and radiator specs.

I'm no AMD fan either, GF needed a new rig for editing though, went with the 1700 and never looked back, works like a champ, and outpaces my old 5820k in render times.

The 80 plus titanium version of the Seasonic Prime is a bit overpriced and unless you really care about saving those $5-10 a year on your power bill its not worth it if you ask me
The gold rated version is $100 with rebate or 33% cheaper then the Titanium version and we are talking about 4% better efficiency at the most

You could strike a balance and get the Platinum rated version as that one is still $20 cheaper

If you really really want Titanium and you think its worth it go for it otherwise save a little bit.
