RX480 bios mod: fan settings ignored?

Hi there, and thanks for reading!

I bought a couple of Sapphire Nitro 480 to build a few (Linux) mining rigs, and successfully modded the bios using PBE to achieve better performance: so far, so good. Nonetheless, I noticed that the GPU were getting relatively hot (75-80°C) while the fans stayed at low speed (18%)

I can't understand why they aren't spinning faster: when the temperature increase, the performance drops! Forcing the fans at 50% gives a reasonable cooling at 60°, but I'd prefer not to force them and keep some regulation.

Having played with WattMan (on Windows), I knew that there should be a way to "adjust" those parameters, and the "FAN" section of PBE looked like the perfect candidate:

From the above, everything looks straightforward: the min/med/high/max fan speeds (PWM) are directly correlated to the min/med/high/max temperature settings, "sensitivity" being an opaque parameter of this closed-loop regulation. Those assumptions were confirmed by doing some research on the forum.

I tried many different settings, from changing the min/med/high/max temperatures (and/or PWM values), even raised the "Max RPM" by 150% and played with the sensitivity as suggested by some other posts: there was absolutely no changes at the fan speeds/profiles or temperatures. That was further confirmed by WattMan, since the "default" fan settings shown aren't reflecting the bios mod.

Is there something special on those cards? Any help appreciated.
