I have to say, I'm underwhelmed by this. I mean, with all the teasers about insane clocks and voltages (albeit on LN2) I was expecting some 2200MHz golden sample binning for this card. I remember the rumors on this forum about this card, everyone was betting on unlocked power and voltage and insane headroom. Guess all of Pascal really is the same and hits a wall around 2150ish
Wow nice design. I love the copper heatsink!
In my experience the EVGA FE version throttles a lot when trying to push above 1911mhz even with fans cranked up.
If the 1080 Ti KPe is anything like the 980 Ti KPe then lower load temps even with stock heatsink would help push clocks quite higher before throttle occurs.
Can't wait to try this card!
Great job as always Kingpin!!!
Even than Pascal only goes so high. If you have no hardware modding skills and are doing LN2 cooling, it MIGHT be worth the added cost. Otherwise this card isn't going to get much better numbers than a regular 1080Ti and will still not come close to a hardware modded Titan Xp. My personal opinion this card is a silly money grab from EVGA just like the other Kingpin cards. The only Kingpin card that made sense was the 780Ti.
Now IF this card is only $799... maybe. Any higher and it is a waste IMHO.

If its anything like the 980TI KPE with the copper cooler, it does a MUCH better job of keeping the card cool. They may have had it watercooled too. It also stands to reason that the card isn't loaded.
They should just ship the KP editions without a cooler. You're only going to utilize it under water or better. Or maybe you could take off the fan shroud and slap on some deltas...but still. Also, they're guaranteeing 2025Mhz? Can't nearly all 1080Ti chips hit that with some some MSI AB love? It's a shame they couldn't do anything with the Titan Xp die, though. I'm sure in some restricted room that requires a level 6 security clearance they have one made for the lulz.
I wish the KP's all came with a pre-installed water block...maybe next time. This card looks taller than the 980 Ti KPE. I had to cut a hole in my case to make it fit. That back plate looks pretty sick.

I do. I would hope that if they did make future KPE cards with a pre-installed water block that it would be a joint venture with EK or HeatKiller.
