I've been debating two options...

Swiftech H240 X2 Prestige to run only the CPU, and keep the GPU on air cooling
Swiftech H220 X2 and a second 120mm rad to cool the CPU, plus an EK full cover block on the GPU.

Thoughts? I plan to run the case horizontally but that might change, who knows...

Wouldn't go with any of those switechs, many people complain about leaks and the cooling performance is nothing out of the ordinary. If you want custom loop on the budget you may be better with something like EK A240 or A240G, but then again your card is not refference so highly likely the GPU block comming with A240G will not fit (check the compatibility list). Usually when you want to water cool your GPU you go with a refference GPU.

If I plan on overclocking, then I should avoid the Shift and go for the Shift X? I have a SeaSonic 850 PSU that would fit the Shift X but not the Shift (how big a downgrade in PSU is it to go to a SF600 corsair from a 850?)

I like the looks of the Swift more than the Swift X, but it seems that limited to 120 AIO cooling on the Swift is too much of a compromise for overclocking?

Nothing you can run in the shift X will truly require more than around 500W unless you get one of those ITX mobos and skylake X and overclock it which is not very likely. Highly likely your draw from the wall when gaming is around 300W like mine with a 1080 and OCed 1600X. So I wouldnt worry about PSU at all. If going with the small one I would say your best bet is h80i in the floor and a large 3 fan GPU. Shift X allows many options.

I wonder if they will make a revision to this case. I'd like it if they or some aftermarket company makes an acrylic window with holes for the "right" panel so that one can place the GPU witht he fans facing out. As it stands now, it seems the case is built for full water loop.

I would say you can fit a 240+120 AIOs as well or like I had 280+120 but the 120 required a bit of ghetto to sit on tip of the psu. Even the 120 didn't actually had fresh air source the gpu temp was toping around 65.

Is any one running a ATX power supply in the Shift X ? It doesn't show support in the manual but apparently you can fit them.

I do and that's my build above. Make sure you have a standard size ATX though not one of those monster ones 😂
