[HardwareCanucks] the NEW Skyscraper ITX Case - Phanteks Evolv SHIFT // SHIFT X - Page 5

Quick mobile upload. Got my case on thurs.

Strongly recommend going for sfx psu.

Using an ryzen 1700x with an 1080ti on a 280rad.

Gaming temps (pubg) in the mid 50s. And torture test everything gets toasty in 30 mins. Hitting 70max on cpu and 60 on the gpu.

I wonder if Australia got their shipment in first before we do here in the US since I think Phanteks is a European company, but I could be very well wrong.

This is the case that I have always wanted for ITX, but those temps concern me a bit. I had an ITX build for years, but then this past January I went to ATX with the Corsair 460X case that I totally fell in love with. I can't wait to see more builds with this case, it might make me jump back into ITX but sucks since I would need to buy a new mobo, cpu, and ram. frown.gif

I got mine (Shift x) two weeks ago in Germany from Caseking. Running an Asus Z270i with a 7700k and a blower-style GTX 970 right now. With a Corsair H80iV2 I am getting 4.9GHz at 1.32 volts. The Gskill RAM is running at 3200MHz. With the Aida 64 stress test CPU/Cache/FPU it averages 84C. That's about what it was at P95 266 when I stress tested for an hour. In gaming it stays around 70C in Battlefield 1 and GTA. I probably need to reduce my OC on the 970 because it gets about 15 degrees hotter in this case than in its previous home. I have a 1080ti FE coming in the next couple days from ebay so we'll see how that goes. I plan on watercooling the whole setup and delidding in the next few months so hopefully I will get things much cooler.

After about an hour of the blower card shooting 85C air at it during gaming, the top IO door gets HOT. Not too hot to touch, but much more than I expected. All the motherboard temps stay pretty cool however. Stock, the top 140mm fan by the motherboard mount is setup as exhaust. The bottom 140mm is setup as intake. I could fit another 140 or 120 fan in the bottom front to get more airflow, but the H80iV2 was a big pain to position correctly because or its relatively short and stiff. It was impossible to position the radiator with the fittings in the bottom position. I wish I had another solution, but it was from my previous build.

Beware of which power supply you choose. I have the Corsair SF600 and it mounts fine to the case. However, the included 24pin cable was just a hair too short, so i had to run the system half screwed down and tilted in order for the cable to reach without tugging on the MB connector. A 24 pin extension from Silverstone solved that issue pretty easily. I tried routing all the IO cables through the bottom cutout where the power cable plugs in but it really made it difficult to close the panel, so now most of the cables are running through the hole at the top.

I'm no expert. This was my third system build in the last 13 years, but it was relatively easy to work with. The only issue was with the cooler, but I knew that could be a question going in.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.

It keeps going in and out of stock at Newegg so the demand was definitely there. I will pick one up at some point as i have 3 cases and 2 builds going right now so i don't want to piss the wife off even more biggrin.gif

Just got my Shift X a few days ago, thought to post a few pics. Been seeing some issues with the riser cable, if I set the card on PCIE 16X I see stuttering, its fine on 8X though, will see how it goes with the 1080 if not I will contact Phanteks. I know there is basically no real difference between 8X and 16X but If I can do something about it I rather do it.

RX 480 8GB reference, Zotac GTX 1080 mini should arrive on Monday, will see how it goes with a non blower card but I'm planning to water cool it via a second AIO (ghetto mod of some sort)
