Linux and Win10 mc's. Latter occasional use.
I want to improve my screen and bought an Nvidia 1050Ti card.
Close to pulling the trigger on an LG Ultrawide, hence looking
round for reviews etc.

Hi pe2dave and welcome!

I personally use the Samsung S34E790C and absolutely love it!

If you are a photo or video editor, there are definitely better screens out there for Color, and there are faster refresh rate screens, but I like the balance of features on this.

Good luck with your purchase and setup!

Thanks - Does the '79' (790?) have some significance? An older model?
I can't find much in the way of explaining LG naming conventions!
I'm not sold on curved, my initial choice is the 88 'flat' screen

The price point is right - I'm not a pro photographer :)

Not sure about the naming conventions.

I tried out a Dell, LG, and a Samsung 34" Curved, and personally found the Samsung to be the best.

I didn't like the dell's color tones, and found that the LG had too much backlight bleeding, leading to strange light effects on dark movie and game scenes.

Just read as many reviews as you can, and at the end of the day, if you don't like it, return it. Its not a candy bar its a 700 monitor its worth making sure you love it.
