Test bed:
MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC X299
Intel Core i9 7900X @ 4.5GHz Corsair AIO/LN2
4x8GB Galax HOF 4000MHz B-die
1x Corsair AXi 1500W for the motherboard
2x EVGA NEX 1500W, one for each GPU
For guys like you and I with LN2 this is good, but for normal gamers, it's just money thrown down the toilet ( since you get the same clocks & performance with a cheaper card like the Strix, Aorus, JetStream, AMP, etc ).
That's curious that the memory is notably better at oc'ing. Can someone who has the card figure what memory is being used? Maybe with the micron shortage it's using something different than other 1080tis

My gaming X can reach +800 (6300) without any voltage modification so I see no reason why the LZ can't reach higher clocks with more mem voltage assuming both cards have the same quality memory.

More voltage does that to memory

All GDDR5x is Micron. Nobody else makes it. I suspect the reason the lightning VRAM is clocking better is because its using the late-model GDDR5x batch that were originally binned for the Titan Xp (those could mostly do +800-> +1000). That and also extra GDDR5x voltage.
Damn that this is bigger than i thought as well. I was able to get one off Newegg last night, cant wait for this beast to come in. up next a nice new monitor to replace the dell u3011.
