IMO the gaming drivers are still lightly modified Fiji. It's just a bodged together mess with tons of things that don't work at all, don't work properly, weird bugs and poor stability.

I would imagine Raven Ridge launch is their target for some degree of normalcy, since it will sell far more units (particularly OEMs) than RX Vega ever will.

Despite the huge delays to Vega, I don't think it has benefitted the gaming drivers at all ... everything has gone to workstation, deep learning, cloud data, apu integration, hashing, the new mining ISA etc.

So many of the features are pipecleaners for NAVI and MCM too ... Infinity Fabric most of all.

Many people are getting that delta between core and hotspot depending on the power used by the card. I get 30-40C difference which is on the high side and preventing better clocks with + on power limit.

What are using for testing? I'd suggest superposition.

FP16 is like Single Precision & FP32 is like Double Precision .G.Flops.

It would be unreal to see 1-5 Tera Flops of Double Precision Performance on the VEGA 64 or Frontier Edition or The 56.

Yeah I can post my most recent results. Card only using 250 watts full tilt 8gb load. Compared to over 340 watts before.

1225mhz core VS 1250mhz core VS 1275mhz core ... over 7 Tera Flops @ 1,275mhz on 390x. All running memory undervolted and underclocked 875mv memory at 1,250mhz on reference blower.

I got it up to nearly 7.3 Tera Flops Single Precision & almost 1 Tera Flop Double Preision... Fastest I have seen so far at 1,125 fps single precision mandrel fps.

I'm looking at 362.5 watts input at the 6 + 8 pin PCIe plus 75 watt PCIe slot

Though it's only able to use 29.69% less though because capacitors heat up & my 6 + 8 pin is insufficient. Would need to divide the 6 + 8 pin over 2x 6 pin & 2x 8 pin to clean up the power & the 12 volt rail at load.

Looking at 281.537 watts used by the core & 70 watts Memory with 1250mhz at 875mv vs 1500mhz 1000mv which calls on like 140 watts. So half power & heat reduction & like 2 fps less for memory.

So basically initial suck-down on the PSU & PCIe slot is 363 watts core & 23 watts memory.. 386 watts from the wall ... Incredibly powerful 28nm GPU with the 390x. If only they took it as it is and made it 14nm. That's half power & probably 2.5x performance using FinFet.

These clocks are unheard of on the 390X... 1,325Mhz to 1,335Mhz Core ... nearly 7.5 Tera Flops Single Precision

If the 390x could do 14nm Finfet or Vega Clocks it would be unreal. Here I have it up to 1,410mhz core.. haha

I'd say those are great temps.

After a couple of repastes and reseating cooler, I now max out at 60C on both HBM and Core and 90C on the hotspot.

I've undervotled my card to 1040mV with no change in the clocks. I've also overclocked my HBM to 870MHz (any higher it crashes). I use the Arctic MX-4 paste but I think my terrible temps are due to my fans. I didn't even think about it but I just slapped on some normal case fans that I had lying around.

What fans do you use on your Morpheus?

Good Comparsion... VEGA FE is on Intel PCIe 3.0 spec motherboard reporting far higher memory READ/ WRITE which is everything on performance at high resolution.

Crossfire 480s & 390x on PCIe 2.0 board even know GPUs are PCIe 3.0 spec

So are the new drivers worth installing or better wait out the next?

Just a general question, how can RX Vega 64 have the same performance as Fury X at the same frequency when it has a bigger die size and more transistors? Has there been 0 IPC progress?

I bought a RX Vega 64 reference on release day and I'm happy with it, but I'm also curious if there will be greater performance in the future, or if this is about how good it's going to get.
