[Official] Vega Frontier / RX Vega Owners Thread - Page 320

Hey all.

Anyone here playing Guild Wars 2 with Vega?

I'm getting some very unusual performance with us and I could really benefit from comparing performance with other Vega users. If anyone here could chime in and let me know your performance experience with the game, it be most appreciated.

My issues are recounted in this Reddit thread, but feel free to just reply here if you want: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/78aaye/any_rx_vega_users_how_is_it_performing/

I just really need a comparison with other Vega users.

Thanks!
Galahad

After a thorough CMOS reset , the normal value of hardware reserved memory comes down to the following:

this seems more like normality. 4.3 MB, now i wonder how long it will take before it starts rising again.

And more importantly the REASON why it happens,.... i'm feeling hacked and rootkitted by several a-holes out there.

problem has been going for years now, with different cards, it stays low for an undefined period after which it suddenly rises again (even doubles) with a boot or reboot.

very safe this UEFI crapbox, more like a tool to make sure it can be hacked, like intel managment engine...same crap.

So while superposition got a nice bump at lower clocks, my firestrike only went up from 23459 to 23683 going from 1100mhz hbm to 1175. think i'll keep it at 1150 for now just to play safe. i swear i smelt some burnt electronics at 1200hbm after superposition but everything seems to be fine.

EDIT - Wasn't stable in gaming, maybe 1125HBM, who knows, but it seems the real boost was probably that 300 point boost from HBCC. Previously I was turning it down to 11600, which I think disabled it in a way - now I can't set it lower than 11787 and suddenly the score went up 300 points.

now those settings are you using one of the LC bioses? last time I tried that it would over clock the thing to stupid speeds and explode like a *the rock* movie tongue.gif
and also what power limit setting do you use 0 50 25...

Same problem here with the fans, i tied 'em to the MB sensor, ramping between 800-1100RPM, got to case fans blowing from the other side, so push-pull config.
No, still using the 8730 AC bios with these settings, power limit 95, GPU pulls up to 370W biggrin.gif

Something changed ... I can now do 1130Mhz stable HBM2. Not pushed any higher yet.

I suspect AMD may have allowed the SoC (IF?) clock speed to go higher than the previous limit of 1107Mhz (and thus crash whenever you went above 1105Mhz).

If others can replicate this, it looks like the PowerPlay table mod just discovered is now redundant.

This was already possible in the previous FCU driver, ran 1115 during some benches with these...

I initially used a large dot in the middle and small spots around it and that didn't work so great so I used the spread method and that worked out better.

Now that's one mighty delta biggrin.gif
So i guess i can spare myself from the hassle of reseating the cooler, hotspot during gaming usually has got a delta of around 15° to HBM temps for me, which mostly remain in the low to middle 40s, never seen the hotspot rise to even near 100° at 1737/1200mv smile.gif
Getting the impression that hotspot temp might just vary for different chips where nothing much can be done about that really...
I too did a nice, even spread with the TIM, just as i always do, no other method can match that if done right from my experience.

Anyone able to use HWINFO64 Beta v5.59-3270 and RTSS 7.0.0 Beta30 for overlay and not get stutters every few seconds in 3D rendering.

MSI afterburner and RTSS works fine but HWINFO64 stutters firestrike and whatever is running.

Anyone else got their Vega 64 to work with HWINFO64 and RTSS.

Windows 10 64bit Creators Update 1703.

Running 17.10.1

It only updates every few seconds at the time it freezes for a second.

I agree I mean my temps barely hit 40 otherwise and I'm seeing some air cool cards that you perform well. I even have the molded die and Samsung hbm. Plus I've been water cooling my graphics cards for 10 years so this is nothing new to me.

Thank God the burning smell I smelled was my audio receiver I'll play with hbm speed again later.
