crazy boost for vega... i am guessing in worst case scenario nvidia does better due to asynch disabled? (except 4k)

Either way liking these improvements, makes you wonder whats in store for the future thumb.gif

I think the worst case scenario is taken from that first part of New York. It's super bugged. The framerate doesn't slow down, it completely drops and all the latency goes red.

hello everyone. I just started to OC my Vega 64 Air and I have a question. I found a pretty stable and satisfied OC p6 1000v p7 1070v +4%, HBM 1000@1060.
Fans are set at 3100. Target is 75.

Gpu temp at max frequency (~1620mhz) is pretty good and rarely reach 76C. HBM temp (at full load) may move up and down from 78C to 84C.

This is where I am worried. I read that you cannot go over 80C with HBM memory. Unfortunately I can't lower voltage since under 1060, with my OC, it gets instable.

I don't have any artifact or issue at all during my gaming (mainly the witcher 3).

Do I have to lower the frequency of the HBM or you guys think it's ok if I go a little bit over 80c?

HBM at that speed is fine for those temperatures. HBM has a higher safe temperature, but its the stability temperatures that are lower.

If no artificing or blackouts, I'd say you're good. It would be trying to push too much higher at those temperatures you will start to see memory instability prop up.

Make those water loop plans :3

Also, HBM voltage isn't HBM voltage, its core floor voltage. HBM voltage on vega 64 is always 1.356v. Having it set to 1060 means the card core voltage will attempt not to drop below that under load.

In my testing going over 80C seems to be fine anywhere up to about 1080Mhz; at 1100Mhz I start to get instabilities at 80c+.

Bear in mind tho, the timings drop at 85C and that's coded into the HBM chips themselves I think. For example on the menu of the game "Hard Reset" I usually get 93FPS but once the HBM gets to 85C it immediately drops to 89FPS.

I like to use that menu as a test now as it it 100% loads the GPU, heats it up real quick, and shows a fairly constant frame rate so you can see any changes in realtime smile.gif

Did the undervolt on this one.

Aren't able to enable HBCC with crossfire enabled however.
