That's a lot. I also have a 5ghz 7700k at 1.35v. I'm using a brand new Kill-a-watt P3 power meter and a 9 month old EVGA Supernova 1200P2 power supply.

so not sure if its coincidence or actually related, but i just had a black screen + freeze + reboot after i loaded up gpu-z while playing pubg at the same time to check out temps with my vega 56. everything was running great since i installed the card yesterday before this incident. and it was quick. like the moment gpu-z started to launch after i gave windows uac permission to load it, it froze.

i actually thought it was going to tdr as with my 580 i had similar problems, like loading up a youtube video while playing a game simultaneously, or loading up gpu-z would cause a tdr. but this didn't tdr, just rebooted. event viewer doesn't show anything useful. just a random warning un-schedule shutdown followed by a critical level shutdown. doesn't list a bsod or a tdr.

the reboot wasn't instant though. i heard the fan on my 56 spin up and down a few times for like 5-7 seconds before the reboot. do you think it could have been gpu-z that caused it or something else? anyone else have a similar event?

My EVGA GTX 780, GTX 780 Ti KingPin edition, EVGA GTX 980, EVGA GTX 980 Ti, and EVGA GTX 1070 FTW along with my XFX R9 390x and RX Vega 64 LC all scream with high FPS.

All the current video cards are reference AMD cards. Pick a brand that has a 3 year warranty. MSI or Gigabyte. No reason to buy a Sapphire, XFX, or PowerColor when they only offer a 2 year warranty.

I would suggest waiting for the results of the Sapphire RX Vega 64 custom card before purchasing a new card.

Sorry man - it's my PSU where the noise is coming from. Nothing from the card....ear next to PSU that's where the noise is.

I haven't done a full temp equalisation test, but after a few hours of gaming it doesn't usually break 40C. Even with something like PUBG which is notorious for it's poor optimisation.

Got a race in a week and a half in iRacing so I'm avoiding messing with the PC much in that period, but after that I'll be doing a full tear down and repaste (want to try Conductonaut instead of Hyrdoonaut).

I also have some Arctic Ceramique (relatively cheap paste) that I want to test to see if theres any real gain over the bulk cheap pastes vs Hydronaut and it's horrendous application method biggrin.gif

OH and I'll be putting the retention bracket back on the back of the card. Not 100% sure there's enough pressure with just the block screws.

On the Coil Whine topic, just set the 300FPS limit in Radeon Settings. It stops the only situations I've had high pitch coil whine. Never heard it since as those situations were in menu's without 2K-4K FPS biggrin.gif

The low buzz I get under full load from my VRM's is annoying though...

I was having a huge issue with black screens and lockups and it was pissing me off to the point I was thinking about putting my 290X back in my loop...

What I found was that when I was running the 290X in x-fire I used one cable out from the PSU to power both the 8 & 6 pin connectors on each card and it worked fine for a couple of years. Now when I installed my Vega 64 and just switched the 6 pin cable for another 8 pin cable thinking that would be fine. Well It was locking up bad tonight so I thought about that single cable from the PSUs PCI-E connector and decided to put each plug one its own out from the PSU and now it is running fine at 1745 core and 1050 memory and after 2 hours of BF1 the temps only got as high as 29c (the house is 21c).

Loving this card....

Yea high power cards require a single 6+2-pin or 8-pin from the PSU to each connector.

Wondering if anyone had this problem... in HWinfo64 my HBM temperature is now 0 all the time ( not working anymore). I switch to 17.11.2 from blockchain driver then it happen. I try many hwinfo portable version and installed , I reset the order , try multiple thing and It just refuse to work. I dont feel like switching back driver to test that... anyone with 17.11.2 have the same problem ?

BTW gpu-z still report it, really just hwinfo64 and its a pity cause I like that program and having the option to OSD the value.

If its only me well I guess Ill do without the sensor for now, max was 45 C so its not like I really need to monitor it.

oh yeah i bet. mines hooked up with two independent 8 pin cables. not using a single cable with two heads. so i don't think mine was related to that. i did google and saw some people complain of their vega systems locking up too from gpu-z. along with 3dmark apparently. i hope its gpuz and not the card.
