RAM specs on QVL

Thread Starter
Am very interested in purchasing a 7820x delid from you. Am good with everything on the QVL, except as far as I could tell, all the G.SKILL chips listed were 4GB. Will the 8GB and 16GB chips qualify as well, or is there an issue (such as heat) with them? Am wanting to use 16GB chips if possible, but need to know if this will be a no go with the overclock. Just trying to cover all the angles before I take the plunge, and am sorry if I sound like a noob. wink.gif Thanks so much!

More memory can cause more strain on the memory controller, which could introduce extra heat and affect the potential overclock. That being said we're talking about a 100MHz drop at the very worst, potentially no problem at all, if you need extra memory go for it and adjust your overclock if needed when you are stressing the system.
