Hard disk dying?

Thread Starter
This week, my computer freeze for 2 or 3 times. Every time I restart the computer, the bios said that no boot able device detected. I check in bios and all my hdd is missing from the bios. I changed the hdd sata cable to a different sata port but no hdd detected. I tried changing the sata cable and power cable, still the same. I also tried using unused hdd to test but not hdd detected in bios.
Its weird that after about 2 hour, I turn on the computer again. This time the hdd decide to show up in the bios and I able to use the computer as usual.
Is it the hdd, mobo or psu?

Sounds like a motherboard issue. I would get a USB dock for testing and see what that does.

Is it the hdd, mobo or psu?

Can you try the HDDs in a different computer?

My guess is it's a motherboard (BIOS?) issue.
Make sure all the power cables are fully plugged into the motherboard.

As a long shot, you could try updating the BIOS (if there is a newer update).
And replacing the motherboard's BIOS battery (very long shot).

But my gut say the motherboard is on it's way out.

The mobo bios is already latest. I also change the battery.I also buy a new hdd.
With a new hdd, my pc still freeze and this time it will restart the pc after the pc freeze for a while. No hdd detected in bios right after it restart.
Is it my mobo or other things? This really drive me insane trying to figure out the problem.

Other problem with my system is after the hdd not detected in bios I turn off the pc.
When I turn it on again, the pc only power up for a second and turn off again.

I am leaning toward motherboard. I have seen these kind of issues in the past but they are hard to pin down someitmes.

Thanks for the help.
Its suck that this happened but this does give me a really good reason to upgrade my computer to Ryzen.

Is there a chance that the psu is the culprit?
