I would like a chart of average decrease in maximum temperatures on delidded CPUs

Thread Starter
Folks, I am thinking of sending in my i7-7700K CPU for delidding. What is the AVERAGE decrease in the maximum temperature I could expect? You do a TON of deliddings and I hope you keep track of before and after temperature changes. I would love for you to post a prominent chart of the average results of decreased maximum temperatures on families of CPUs on air after delidding.
In my case, I get 90C maximum temperatures on air at 4.6Ghz overclock and running AIDA64 stress test. It used to be lower 5 months ago to the point of running 4.8GHz with same max temp (I think it was because it was the winter here in the Northeast!) Could I expect 5C improvement? 10C? Better?
I am sure that the world would love to see this chart!
PS I tried a search for this but was not able to find a specific answer. Apologize if you have already published this.

Expect somewhere between 10 to 20C: https://siliconlottery.com/collections/all/products/delid

The list between architectures was getting pretty long, we've just narrowed the estimate to 10-20C which covers the vast majority of deliddings: https://web.archive.org/web/20170711023551/https://siliconlottery.com/collections/all/products/delid

Measured temperature drops are 100% dependant on the cooling solution and stress test used. If you're only seeing 40C under load, you're not going to see a 10C drop from delidding. If you're seeing 100C at load, you're going to see a number closer to that 20C.

Just received a 7700k from Silicon Lottery I ordered a few days ago. Got the 5.1 GHz delidded one since the 5.2 GHz one was a bit too expensive and the others were out of stock.

The difference is immense. I had a hot chip before this one and ran it at 4.5 @ 1.15 vcore but still hit around 75-80°c at maximum load. Using a custom liquid cooled system with a Maximus IX Hero motherboard with a EK monoblock on it as well to cool the mosfets and chokes. I even ran the 3000 mhz memory I had at 2133 to lighten the load. Had already reseated the cooler twice before admitting defeat and ordering from SL.

Been running RealBench for about an hour now and the max temps I'm seeing is around 61°c at the same voltage as before. It hovers around 59-61°c, so average is around 60. The first major difference I noticed was no more temperature spikes like before. The difference between the cores on the old chip would be sometimes 10-12°c at worst. Even when booting Windows the temperature would jump to 75°c when just launching apps. The ambient temperature is low here (Iceland) so thats also not an issue.

Don't have any official numbers yet since I haven't overclocked proper. Will be doing that this weekend. Looking for 5.0 GHz stable with the lowest voltage possible.

This has been a great improvement to my build. Would highly recommend. Would also love to see a chart like that tongue.gif
