Best upgrade path for my old Intel Rig

So, my current specs can be seen below in my sig but to make it easy here we go!

i5 3570k @ 4.3ghz turbo
MSI z77 MPower Mobo
8gb Corsair Vengeance ram
Intel 520 Cherryville 240gb SSD
EVGA GTX780
SeaSonic 750w full modular 80wGold PSU

Cooling:
Alphacool 420mm Radiator with 3x 140mm fans
PWM Pump with rez
Koolance CPU Block

I just had to redo my overclock settings due to some weird temp issues, but planning a full break down of my waterloop this week to see if I can identify anything beyond just reseating the cpu block which changed pretty much nothing in regards to temps.

Anyways, I mostly game, but have recently been able to setup my office more for myself and have setup 2 monitors on my desk with a 55inch tv above them all running off the PC. I have been getting more into Twitch Streaming as well with a few friends so that leads to more taxxing on the ol' girl. So, I have been debating some hardware upgrades.

First option:
Take a lead on a local GTX 1080 that a neighbor is selling. 4 month old card. Not used for mining. 450$. Super good deal IMO but its only one piece of the puzzle, and frankly the most expensive piece.

Second Option:
New CPU, Mobo, and Ram. Looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 overclocked to 4.0 if the lottery allows. ASRock Fatality Mobo. 16gb DDR4 3200. Probably just replace my Koolance Intel block with a new AM4 block and use the existing gigantic (overkill, noob me bought this 6 years ago when I knew nothing of OCing and Watercooling) radiator I already have in my monstrous NZXT Switch 810 case. Reuse my 780 for a little while longer.

What do you all think would be the best bang for the buck to increase gaming perfomance and the little bit of multitasking I do.

Typically I dont have more than 3-4 chrome tabs open, only ever have 1 tab open while gaming. OBS Studio runs while gaming to stream. I am seeing PUBG which is terribly optimized take up roughly 85% of my cpu and anywhere from 3-5gb of ram while playing. Planning to play Destiny 2 later this year. When not gaming I use a few chrome tabs, run Sony Vegas Pro, or run different slicing software for my 3d printer while letting Kodi play on my tv. Hopefully that gives you guys enough background on the type of user I am to help me down my path.

Ideally, I would love to just build something new, as a 1000$ system right now could outperform my old gear, I just cant swing it all at once so want to make a clear path and get as much performance now as possible. Heck, Id really like to get rid of this huge rad for a 240mm and downsize this beastly case to the NZXT 340.

Thanks all!

I'm totally in the same boat and I'm wondering how much I'm actually maxing my CPU. It's not 100% on all cores but it could be that I need more cores in order to support 720p Twitch Streaming while playing SFV or Overwatch :\

3570k @ 4.4ghz
16gb RAM
RX 480
@1440p

I'll be watching your thread to see what people think about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 1600 or above... Hrm...

Well I ended up grabbing a GTX 1080 from EVGA, their FTW version, from a local seller for what I considered a steal considering today's graphics card market. Man, what an incredible performance upgrade. My new LOWS for fps is now what my old HIGHS were on my GTX780. Not only is that the case, but thats the case when going from my old med-low graphics settings in PUBG to Ultra settings.

My next purchases will be some DDR4 and a new z270 mobo, then to decide between the 7600k or the 7700k.

You will have alot of dropped frames streaming with a 7700k and gaming, 7600 is really out of the question with twitch. You really need more than 8 threads for 720+ decent quality.

Are you recommending AMD here for the job?
Yes dude. Get ryzen 5 1600 or 1700 then overclock with at 3000 or 3200 ram

At least cl16 timings or down to cl14. Someone help me of I'm missing details.

X370 boards that aren't the Asus cheaper board (they have their lowest X370 board using same vrms as the plus) are preferable if you have the money due to their better vrms but if you go b350 it seems Asus plus is the one that is solid enough since I see conflicting sources dinging asrock and mainly. Although the main Kraig or carbon seem to be universally recommended as strong contenders

There are plenty of options for cheap

x79 mobo

3690x or Xeon 8c+

ddr3.. oops you already have it

WC'ing.. you can run 4.8-5ghz daily 6c/12t

it cheaper than Zen and still competes at those clocks.

*keep and reuse more of your current hw

*x79 + SB-E still supports PCIE 3.0.. and if budget allowed IB-E supports +2400 quad channel on most OC mobos

As someone who ditched their 3770k/Z77 rig for SB-E -> I've only gained..and Xeons are so cheap for these boards its comical.
