(hopefully this is the right place I can post this... pretty general question, not even an overclocking subject)
I got a good but aging i7 4770K running at 4.0Ghz (didn't unlid, was able to push to 4.1 semi-stable, so I just stopped trying) with 8GB of ram, and a GTX 970. I use my computer mainly for THREE things:
The (real) struggle comes from the games: in my dreaming head I should be able to play at a constant 144fps @ 1440p, but the reality is quite different. I'd say on average the fps is about 110, get the top 144fps but can lower down to 65fps. Since I'm using a GSYNC monitor, its not very noticeable (it doesnt get me kill), but I do feel the lose of frames!
Now I'm tight on cash, so much so that I can either replace my system (cpu+mobo+ram) OR videocard. Originally I thought 600$CAN would suffice, but looking at the current prices of all components, feels like it has to be in the 750-800$CAN. I'm not sure I can get that much just now, but I'll be trying! hehe
What do you think I should upgrade first? A part of me sees that my 8gb ram is pretty much always fully used, and think 16gb would be better, so the entire encoding+streaming would be a gain (and maybe a tad for gaming). But then I look at graphic card comparisons, and the GTX1080 is pretty much TWICE the power of my GTX970 (tested on much newer systems though). So I don't know where to go first. What would you do?

- Playing Diablo 3/Path of Exile
- Encoding movies/tv capture files
- Streaming (720p@60fps most of the time)
